Also pay attention to Favor (each factions reputation basically).
https://ddowiki.com/page/Favor
Favor is gained with each quest a character completes, based on the highest difficulty ever completed for that quest. It measures how well respected your character is by one (or all) of 19 different NPC patron factions within the game, the sponsors who are hiring your character to accomplish a given quest. By performing more quests for these different patrons (or the same quest at a higher difficulty), a character gains more Favor which then can unlock special access to different benefits for that character, and occasionally for your DDO account. Each character accumulates its own favor; most favor rewards will not apply to your other characters, but some will apply to future Characters on the same account on the same server.
Different factions have different rewards at certain ranks (bank space, bag space, buff/item vendors, crafting aids, perm buffs and feats, etc...) as well as points you can spend in the store (every so often you will get a mail saying you have earned enough favor and get +25 DDO points).
Also, I can't remember off the top of my head, but you can configure the hotkeys to do many things. What is useful is setting up targeting for interactives and "use", if you set it right you can have it where you it "select nearest interactable" combined with I think... and with the "use" key you can fast pick up anything on the floor with a few hit of the keys (helps when something gets hidden behind a corpse or the like). You can also setup how use functions by having it use potions you pick up (at some point you just sell a lot of them anyway, so having them immediately buff you, though some buffs are only seconds though).
edit:
Forgot to add, bag space... you can get things like hireling folders, gem bags, Augment bags, collectible bags, and ingredient bags. They can all be obtained in in game (often through faction rewards and sometimes drops). Collectibles and ingredients are important for crafting which you shouldn't dismiss as a big portion of increasing power on items is crafting.
Quick note on crafting.

Cannith Crafting is the only one that is actually "leveled", everything else is just collecting drops and going to an altar or vendor and making changes. You don't "need" Cannith Crafting, but it does allow you to make items that are similar to the RNG stuff you see drop all the time. The benefit is that you can "customize" with Cannith Crafting and make an item that has the bonuses you are looking for making it easier to fill in gaps of bonuses you may need without having to give up good named item slots.
Read the guides if you need, but leveling it is pretty much a process of breaking down the green items into essence and then using those to create a new item. I think the level cap is 300 and it isn't too hard to level it if you desire this level of flexibility, it just takes a lot essences which also randomly drop in adventures as well.
Lastly, some of the basic crafting allows you to stop perm break issues with some items (they will eventually break and become useless, hardiness rating drops with each failed repair). This can be avoided using the "stone of change" and some ingredients, but it will perm bind the item to your character (so no passing between other characters), so its up to how you choose to play. If you choose to do this, do it early as the hardiness rating drops are permanent and you can end up with an item that can be really low on its rating and constantly breaking and requiring repair while in dungeons.
