It isn't made for women as all the male characters are aesthetically unappealing that none of the women who play these games for the romances are going to romance any of them. LMAO! What a stupid broad. I am so sick of this representation crap being pushed. Not once have I seen a black or Asian kid demand to be represented as elves and dwarves. They aren't chomping at the bit for it. Given that manga and anime have a massive consumer base with minorities I think a lot of them really could give a ****. I can guarantee that no black or Asian kid is going to look up towards the diversity quota elves a year after this games release but all of them will be pre-ordering the next Frieren manga.

Wasn't the game called ego draconis back then ? Meh, I played both and think that DAO is slightly better, but they aren't really the same type of game, one is the classical formula of rtwp party combat, the other is action-rpg. Funnily enough ,the influence of WoW is obvious for both of them, DAO copying the UI and the "spam ability cd in the right order for moar dps", Ego Draconis in the "open-world" gated by precise level zone.

I'm genuinely curious to see if the game will even attempt to explain their appearance. Even a throwaway line about different clans or whatnot.
But I actually have a theory: the elves are the designated victim race in this setting, a native american/druidic-celtic-pagan/slavery allegory. But they were ALL white in previous games. You can't have a 'white-coded' race as the victim race can you? Not in the Year of Our Lord 2024.

Y'all should've seen the players reactions back in the day to the revelations about the reality of what the elven 'gods' actually were and what the Ancient Elven Empire was actually like. It was GLORIOUS.

Good point. The majority of the female (true female, not ***** female) fans are either fujoshits that go for the designated homos, or regular trashy romance novel readers that go for broken white twinks/himbos because of the "I can fix him" desire:

How do I know that? The archiveofourown "Dragon Age - All media types" tag broken down by the most popular character pairings. Why this particular metric? Because the obsession levels to not only read but also write a fanfic would be high enough to call those people fans, as slimy as that feels.
