Pronoun Removal
This thread is for cataloguing games with pronoun/"body type A/B" options, serving as both a radiant quest generator for cherished modders looking for something to do, and a book of grudges for those who don't appreciate penisless men inserting their fetish into our beloved hobby. If there's a game you'd like to see added, please post it in this thread, preferably with a screenshot.

Cyberpunk 2077 - though I have no idea if it's at all possible to remove that particular "feature".
Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies with lots of ***** ********, Minecraft, Sims 4, Forza, Saints Row 4.
Plenty of games have Type A and B body ******** - there's a mod for Elden Ring that replaces them with Male and Female.

SR4 has [Sex: Male/Female] from the video I found on YouTube. Minecraft doesn't have character creation as far as I'm aware.gerey wrote: β December 19th, 2023, 11:02Cyberpunk 2077 - though I have no idea if it's at all possible to remove that particular "feature".

I remember seeing mods (addons I guess?) for WoW/WoWClassic that restore the original Female/Male icons, so you can probably add that to the list

As for Minecraft, you do have the ability to customize the looks of your character. Maybe it's a mod? Haven't played the game in years, so I might have been mistaken.Players are given complete control over the way their character looks, the way that they dress, and even the way that they move. What's more, it's possible to continue to make changes as the game's events begin to unfold. There's also an option to select they/them pronouns as well as a decent variety of voices available for selection.

Requesting pronoun fix mod for World of Warcraft: The War Within. Seeing "they" everywhere in Dragonflight was awful.
Should be doable before launch since beta is out.

Sadly I don't think I have ever heard of addons being able to replace the text in NPC chat boxes or quest boxes.J1M wrote: β June 8th, 2024, 18:47Requesting pronoun fix mod for World of Warcraft: The War Within. Seeing "they" everywhere in Dragonflight was awful.

Added. Will try to be more specific with the type of pronoun fuckery in the OP going forwards.
Will upload in a moment once I make sure there's nothing else I missed.

I'm just stating the facts.

Since you're at it, you might want to do a fix for this too:

That's kind of what I assumed was the situation. Trying to look at the wiki entry looks like male/female pronouns were used back and forth until "they" like in game was used. I'll see if I can track down the original version of the game to see if they changed Goreswine to be gender neutral later or if it was always meant to be an ambiguous monster.Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 01:58Looks like an unintelligible unknown figure wearing a mask (he as a default for unknown persons is dumb btw)rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 01:52Since you're at it, you might want to do a fix for this too:
EDIT: Found a youtube thumbnail from 2 years ago with the current description still the same. I don't know if this really counts as a "woke" thing as referring to different monsters without an explicitly known gender using neutral pronouns has always been a thing imo

Can't tell if you guys are ********, but using 'he' as a generic pronoun has been a part of English since the medieval period.Vergil wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:01EDIT: Found a youtube thumbnail from 2 years ago with the current description still the same. I'm glad it was changed sometime before I was born so I wouldn't have to deal with such buffoonery.rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:07Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 01:58Looks like an unintelligible unknown figure wearing a mask (he as a default for unknown persons is dumb btw)Can't tell if you guys are ********, but using 'he' as a generic pronoun has been a part of English since the medieval period.Vergil wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:01EDIT: Found a youtube thumbnail from 2 years ago with the current description still the same. Right, because using a plural pronoun as a singular makes much more sense.Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:12I'm glad it was changed sometime before I was born so I wouldn't have to deal with such buffoonery.rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:07Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 01:58Looks like an unintelligible unknown figure wearing a mask (he as a default for unknown persons is dumb btw)Can't tell if you guys are ********, but using 'he' as a generic pronoun has been a part of English since the medieval period.Vergil wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:01EDIT: Found a youtube thumbnail from 2 years ago with the current description still the same. In situations like this, just default to using the creature's name. "Goreswine blabla", or at very least, just use "it".Vergil wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:01That's kind of what I assumed was the situation. "They" is ******* stupid, and should only be used when referring to a group.
The problem, in this case, is that this is a definite person. Certainly, he is correct as a generic singular pronoun when referring to an indefinite person, like so:rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 9th, 2024, 02:07Can't tell if you guys are ********, but using 'he' as a generic pronoun has been a part of English since the medieval period.
And they can be used in cases of a grammatically singular person that is nevertheless semantically plural:The Gospel According to Saint Mark (King James Version) wrote:4:9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
But to my knowledge there has never been an agreed upon pronoun for a singular, definite person of unknown sex. They has the wrong number. He is masculine. It is inanimate. The Book of Joshua (King James Version) wrote:22:14 [...] and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
In this particular case, I would go with he (because there appears to be nothing feminine about the character) or it to emphasize the degree to which the character has become inhuman.
