The opening portion of the game is designed like a movie, if you didn't get past the first 4-5 hours I could see why you'd think so.

that's called average Slavic vocabulary.

I did my postgrad at Charles in Prague as a foreigner - I learned like a dozen local swear words before I learned a simple greeting.

Every time I want to replay Mafia II I have to remember that there's basically an entire different video game I have to beat first before it actually starts.

How can anybody tell me these are games and not movies? "NOOOO, that's not a movie! There's interaction!" There's more interaction with an 80 year old movie than the best game of 2010-present. If you need to hold something, go smoke a cigarette.
Vavra games are one part movie and one part sim.

YIKES. It's over.. Compare this to the tense scene of the first game where the castle is about to be sieged right after you escape your home village.

So is this going to be one of those ****-eating drop in drop out co-op games where one player takes control of Hans? Because if so this is going to be bad.

I wonder if they're going to make you deal with an awful AI buddy or just have them be best buds in cutscenes only

Co-op might save this game. I will actually buy it if I can do a whole co-op campaign with a friend, as long as there isn't something bad enough to scare me off entirely thats shown soon.

Has there been a single thing shown to make you guys think there's co-op besides Henry having a friend in this one?

I still have faith. KCD1 had its own fair share of cringe scenes that could've been compiled in a trailer.

I doubt Hans Capon was made into a fully fledged AI partner who constantly follows you around, that would be too difficult to implement in an open world game like that. In fact I believe they are purposely showing cutscenes from the first three-four hours opening chapter, to avoid spoilers.

***spoilers***

The game takes place in the city called Kuttenberg (Kutna-hora), in one of the interviews Vavra said that they picked Kuttenberg instead of Prague because "nothing of interest was happening in Prague at that time". Therefore I believe they plan to use The Battle of Kutna-hora as the game's climactic moment. Except that the battle of Kutna-hora took place in 1421. By 1421 both Radzig Kobyla and Jan Ptacek (real-world version of Hans Capon) were dead, and father Godwin would've been a decrepit old man, too old to participate in combat. I assume there's gonna be a cinematics-filled opening chapter that takes place immediately after the end of KCD1, and then we get a timeskip.

Huh that changes things. Maybe he is not too old yet and didn't lose his passion.

You have too much hope that it wouldn't result in a lifeless NPC to bug out randomly and block doorways.

There's no importing, but there are going to be a few KotOR 2 style dialogue options that let you determine what happened in the first game.
We may never see save imports again with these 16 year dev cycles.

You can import a wiz7 save to wiz8, there's no excuse other than laziness.
