RoboCop: Rogue City

Post by GhostCow »

I haven't seen any ******* in the trailers for this game other than a couple of random goons who get splattered and it actually looks like a ton of fun. Dare I say that this game might be free of poz? Releases some time in September.

Looks pretty good from what they've shown. Made by the same people who made that recent Terminator game that got terrible journo reviews but went on to become one of the better selling/highest rated games on Steam that year, hoping they can do it again.

Wait, that Terminator game was actually good? Should I play it? What's the name of it?

I hope they capture the feel of Dredd vs Death where you could just lay down the law when you encountered a jaywalking fatty.

You figure by now people would understand it means it has RPG elements.

I ******* hate rpg feature creep. RoboCop should be a straight forward action 3rd person shooter with a chase mission and a few upgrades.

Looks fun, I'll give it the old 2 power hours and see if I like it.

That said it's RPG elements consist of skillpoint allocation, a game gimmick that is starting to rub me the wrong way. Consistently among these games if you just dump points into a single skill the games become trivial.

Which is lame

They did a good job with Terminator, so if this is done the same, so be it. They need to do a Predator: Miami or Die Hard: Las Vegas, next.

Terminator Resistance level-gated skills to prevent this kind of thing. I didn't feel unstoppable until the very last level which was fine.

The Chad Robo Cop:
- Genderless cyborg
- Custom and original body type
- Fights crime
- Superhuman strength

The virgin Troonjak
- Biologically male
- Unoriginal body type
- Supports violent crime
- Can only beat women in sports

I'd say they need to do a MGS3: Rambo Edition, but they already made a Rambo game and it didn't work out so well. Then again, they seem to have figured out a formula that works, and there's plenty more 70s and 80s IP that could do with an honest attempt at a videogame adaptation.

They can keep nostalgia-baiting me.

Well, different flavor. Would be an easy continuation since the idea is in similar vein.

Yes, I'd like a based studio to take up Dredd and Heavy Metal.

Looks like it has the problem I always imagined a potential Robocop game would, which is that it looks way too easy. You have the infinite ammo Robocop supergun, and all your enemies are punks, you're a walking tank gunning everything down without much thought. Accurate Robocop experience, but looking boring to play. I guess the playable demo that all the footage is from is only from the first hour of the game, so maybe it gets more challenging as it goes.

I will max combat and armor/defense skills, then bank skillpoints until I unlock the next level of combat and armor skills.

I will shoot my way out of every problem, I will spare no criminal. This is role playing

If it's following the established tropes of the movies (and I seen no reason why it wouldn't) you'll eventually come into conflict with another cyborg or robot of some sort that outmatches RoboCop in terms of firepower. I could see better armed/armored enemies being introduced - higher-tier thugs, corporate security, robots - to keep pace with the player leveling up.

The Terminator game had 18 different enemies (including DLC ones), so unless something went horribly wrong during development, I imagine this game will have a similar roster.

Refunded, game would freeze on startup multiple times. I'll treat this like I did terminator resistance, forget about it for a few years and buy it when its cheap and ready.

Also morrowind just got another big mod update

I thought it was the sequel that dialled it up?
