What is the deal with "-fall"?

Why are so many games just titled noun/adjective-fall? What started this trend? Why do 90% of them consist of AAA slop that fail immediately? Has there been a single great "-fall" game in the last 10 years?
Redfall, Greedfall, Silent Hill: Townfall, Atomfall, Destiny 2: Lightfall
What is going on? What happened? Games used to have unique and provocative titles. Not anymore!

I used to read the features list on the Darkfall website and fantasize about playing it for hours. There was supposed to be PvP with collision so you could form shield walls and stuff, and the wolf guys were able to plainsrun without a mount. Never actually played it.



Anyway, it's hard to think of names and -fall just sounds cool. At least it's not trying to evoke a specific game it's ripping off like -borne.

Titanfall though, I've not played but heard its praises often. Likely the only -fall I know of with a positive reputation.

This reminds me of how book titles became simplistic and repetitive since long or archaic titles confused people and put them off reading. While I have no idea why "-fall" is this prominent, I assume it falls into this category of appealing to basic and easily identifiable strings of words.

All the good titles that involves actual words are taken now. You can't just name a game "Pong", "Spacewar", "Asteroids" or "Tank" anymore, someone already did that. Now in order to name a game something, you have to dig increasingly hard, which gives you outcomes like "Legends of Dragonfall". Otherwise you're stuck with increasingly non-memorable non-words.
