Companion Approval in Dialog Compatibility Patches 1.2.0 — Baldur's Gate 3

Post by Clover »

Overview
Tired of reloading because you keep making Shadowheart mad at you? Are you failing DC checks because you always unwittingly choose the most difficult option? Paladin with 8 int who keeps accidentally breaking your oath because you can't understand what it said in that book? This mod is for you!

I've created localization files that combine these changes with the changes made by OrinEsque's excellent No Alphabets mod as well as the Platonic Lingo file for CrusaderKinght20's Better Romance.

Based on OIO - Overexplained Interaction Options.

Update 4/21/24

Updated for Hotpatch 25 and NoAlphabets 4.5. In the most recent update the author of OIO has added Ⓓ in front of all dark urge dialog options so you can tell what's dark urge specific dialog and what's just the character being mean. Personally I don't really see the need as 95% of the time it's pretty clear 'Rah! Build my castle of bones!' type stuff but in the process of updating the file I ended up making an updated version with the Ⓓ anyway so I've uploaded the versions with those as 'Durge Edition'

Installation Instructions
These files act as replacements for the localization files for No Alphabets and Better Romance. To install this mod first uninstall the lingo file for those mods

Then open the rar file, and remove the data file and place it here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Baldurs Gate 3

Or wherever you have the game installed.

Thank you so much for this! It's so nice to be able to use OIO in combination with No Alphabets. :D

Agreeing with @AtomicSpaceKitty. Thank you very much for making and sharing this mod for those using No Alphabets with OIO. How is it that you were able to release a .pak version of this mod when the original OIO author only ever released a .loca file which had to be manually installed?

Edit: Wait, scratch that. The .pak file loaded through BG3MM doesn't seem to function for me, but the manual install of the .loca file works just fine.

I followed Orinesque's directions for making a localization pak for foreign languages as my template for this mod. It gives directions for making a pak but I couldn't get it to work on my computer either when I tried to run it through the mod manager. I wasn't sure though at the time if it was because I already had OIO installed and didn't want to mess with reinstalling my game. Maybe it's a limitation of the English localization in general that it can't be installed through a pak. I'm not actually smart enough to understand how any of the underlying systems work :geek:

Thanks for the information. I'll fix the main post this afternoon.

Well done! I would recommend including what version of the base Lingo mods you're current versions are compatible with :)

Will do! I'm updating the mod for hotfix 21. I had ChatGPT write me a python script to check for changes to the localization. Looks like a couple of minor changes and 11 lines have been added and one deleted. Would I be correct in thinking I can just throw those 11 lines onto the end of the file and be good to go?

11 lines? You mean in total in NoAlphabets? [There's about 500+]

And yes throw them on the end.

11 more lines in the hotpatch 21 version of the vanilla localization file compared to the hotpatch 20 version. Nothing really relevant to NoAlphabets (or OIO for that matter)

Its okay, my script pulls the new documents, picks up all the NoAlphabet dialogues, changes them and puts them at the bottom of the document so there's no duplicates.

@Clover two things: 1, if the mod isn't up-to-date with No Alphabets 5.0, will it **** up my game? 2, how would I uninstall the mod?

Hey. Something was wrong with my fresh BG3 install--the new subclasses in character creation were showing as NOT FOUND. When the problem persisted after I had disabled all mods, I discovered this post. The No Alphabets OIO file from here was the only English.loca I had, and deleting it let me see the new subclasses.

Hope this helps someone.
