Transmog Enhanced 1.1.1.0 — Baldur's Gate 3

Post by Mod Reuploads »

Hosted on Nexus.

I’ve provided direct Nexus download links incase it ever gets hidden again.

Overview
This mod will let you change the appearance of almost any equippable item, including modded items. Requires Script Extender.

When you load into a save, the HOST of the lobby (character you have selected when loading) should get 2 items "Transmog Appearance" and "Reset Appearance". These two items have instructions in their description, please follow the steps written in the item. These items are only given to you once. They will stay where you last put them so don't lose track of them.

Why does the name not stay once you equip the item? This is supposed to be the Mask of the Shapeshifter (and once I use the magic item it does say that), but as soon as I equip it the name reverts to what it's disguised as. Since I assume the mod isn't yours and you're just reuploading it you might not know, but figured I'd ask.

Unknown. This didn't used to be the case, but things changed in Patch 4 (as I recall) and it took considerable pressure to get her to come back and update the mod then. That it isn't being supported further is tragic, as I consider it an essential add-on.

It should be pointed out that the mod author, Eralyne, made it clear that she was looking for someone to take over the mod and keep it up-to-date. If someone wishes to do so I don't think there'd be an objection.

I was actually going to come back just now to post that after closing my game and reopening it later the hat is correctly identified. So... I guess the game just needs a restart after doing it to lock in? But I tried taking it off my character and putting it back on and the correct name is sticking now.

I unpacked the mod and looked at how things work. I might not be schizophrenic enough to maintain this indefinitely, but after I fix the Trashcan mod then I can give it a go. It'll all go here instead of Nexus if I end up doing that, of course.

Man, that'd be awesome. Of course, it's working right now (except for the item naming thing, which is a negligible issue). The real test will be when they send a patch down the line that breaks things again.

Hmm, I haven't tried that. I know there's an issue that if you transmog an armor piece it will adopt the type of the "image" armor - so if you transmog monk clothing to look like a light armor item, it will become light armor - but it'll correct itself if you save and reload. I'll have to try unequipping/re-equipping items and see if that impacts the naming disparity in any permanent way. (I have noticed some of my transmogged items seem to be named correctly while others aren't. Maybe that's the difference?)

All I know for sure is that it's important for me and my crew to look good. So I couldn't live without this thing.

There's a non-script transmog with similar functionality made by Wayden, but it's ginormous in terms of its footprint and not as powerful, in that it can only transform to the looks of items that are hand-built into the mod. It can't dynamically read the appearance of, say, a modded-in piece of armor and apply its look to something else. And it doesn't do weapons at all. But it'll do in a pinch. (It's also no longer supported, though it doesn't require as much, and maybe he'll come back to it if it rises in popularity again.)

I had Wayden’s version installed back when it came out. Never. Again. I still have nightmares of me trying to uninstall that thing and load my save.

Luckily a different mod called Cosmetic Slots just came out so that can be our fallback option if all else fails.

Sweet, glad someone's on it. Sounds like there are a few initial issues, but I'd expect gradual improvement.

I'll see what I can do about maintaining this myself when things truly break. It's still working fine on Hotfix 19 (plus this mod didn't seem to break as badly every patch like Appearance Edit Enhanced). And I like the idea of people having to venture to this forum to update the mod hahaha

@loregamer I noticed a bug with this mod and figured since you said you'd try to maintain it I'd let you know about it. If it'd be a pain to fix, don't worry about it. It's not mod-breaking. I have noticed that when you copy the appearance of armor it carries over the armor level. So for example, if you give a no-armor piece of clothing the appearance of armor, the no-armor clothing will take the armor level you glamored it with (no-armor gloves glamored with medium armor gloves become medium armor; no-armor clothes glamored with light-armor clothes become light armor, etc.). Not a mod-breaking issue, just a mod-limiting one (for tav's that can't wear armor).

Actually it also seems to work backwards as an exploit. You can turn heavy armor into clothing by giving it the appearance of clothing. Which is probably more of an actual problem than the former issue.

Since this is being maintained by Eralyne again, I think I'm gonna hold off on messing with it. Got other mods I want to work on. But if it goes hidden again, I'll probably make this a priority!

You could try logging this as a bug on the Nexus page, but a part of me thinks it already was:
