ex-IGN writer admitting what everyone has always known

he's only admitting it now because he's out of the industry.

amusingly, he also said that the only reason the current IGN staff gave Hogwarts Legacy a GOOD review is because the administration wants to maintain good relations with WB... lol

Game reviewers have been paid off since the 80s. Main difference is the leverage the publishers have now to squeeze the balls of the review sites.

Is there any reason for game review sites to exist? It's far more interesting to see someone playing if you unsure if the game is worth your money than to read what someone has to say about it, if we limit to read or watching someone play and forum doesn't exist.
I mean, sure, in forums we are taking some people's opinion in a game from what he posts,, but it's based on a trust system, so to speak. A trust system should also exist for game reviewers, but it's obvious they are paid to praise games and so there is no trust at all. For users in a forum, you always have this or that user you take his opinion in some games or genres seriously because he always recommended great games, or helped you avoid shitty ones. It's usually quite obvious when the person is always shilling some dev, too.

There is no work that has fallen into disrespect and ignominy as fast and as far as journalism.
