For BG, I get the arguments for 4-man and 6-man parties, but is there a case for a 5-man party? I'm currently leaning towards a 4-man party.

Edit: I'm guessing you'd split the difference, but want to make sure I'm not overlooking something.
Really depends what version you are planning to play. But unless you are playing a heavily modded SCS version, BG is not really a difficult game. Especially if you play EE, which makes the whole thing laughable easy. You can just go and do whatever you like without any pre-planning and you will be fine. That's how it's supposed to be played btw.

Any rules for the difficulty? Everybody keeps talking about this TACO guy. Who is he and what does he do?
Play the game however you want. The only goal is to have fun playing and beating it.

Was waiting for the main post to update, but as I see others are already playing and even already finishing the game, I will start too :bounce:

Was fiddling around the options as I prepared the game earlier today, if anyone else hates the new "modern things" (like the bars) that have been added, they can be disabled in the Graphics options (on the left panel).

Even worse than the health bars are these god awful outlines and zoom out effect.

But even deactivating everything in settings, EE is VERY different to the original. New companions, areas, NPCs, tons of EPIC loot, spells, classes, nerfed quests, nerfed encounters etc.

biggest change is that it's using an entirely different system(read: bioware's implementation of ad&d 2e) than bg1 was designed for, bg1ee uses bg2

I don't necessarily think it will negatively impact your experience in a major way unless you really want a 'purist' playthru, but it's worth mentioning

Including tab highlighting, so now you will find all those insanely hidden items. Pause in inventory also did not exist. Now when you get poisened you can conveniently pass around the potion. Originally you were dead.

Wanted to ask, is it normal that party members (namely Jaheira) auto-cast heal spells on party members outside of combat? I don't recall this happening the other times I played, both EE and the original, though it has been a while since.

I have the lantern (bottom right) on and am using Core Rules. Will take a look inside the character's information page once I will open the game back up again, thank you for the headsup!

Baldur's Gate

The great sage Alaundo foretold the death of the god of murder, Bhaal, and also of his many children. The prophet's words rang true as always. Before the Time of Troubles, Bhaal saw his death coming as well and forced himself upon the women of every race in Faerûn, hoping to spawn vessels through which he could resurrect himself. In the year 1368 DR, these children of the dead god are now coming of age, unbeknownst to nearly everyone.

Meanwhile, an iron shortage is crippling the southern Sword Coast region. All of the ore coming out of the local mine near Nashkel rots soon after it has been smelted, turning whatever it is made into, be it weapons or armour, useless. The resulting iron shortage has resulted in items made of iron becoming more valuable than gold. Bandits now plague the roads in an attempt to steal what is left from those who paid far more than usual for it in the first place. The city of Baldur's Gate sends out Flaming Fist mercenaries in a near-futile attempt to police the roads but otherwise closes its gates and harbours to all traffic. Accusations are hurled at the state of Amn despite their pleas of innocence and war seems to be on the horizon while a youngster from the library-fortress of Candlekeep is told to prepare for travel.

I have found that the cause for the auto-cast etc is this option though I don't see anything to toggle it besides manually going into every recruited party member and setting the scripts to None
► Show Spoiler
It could be bacause I am thinking of Icewind Dale, but I do not recall this being the norm, the hit and spell sounds are also very low though the volume is not

Also, for anyone playing for the first time, if you wish to recruit someone but cannot at the moment, do not refuse them, just say you DO want them and then just "remove" them from the party selection screen when it asks you to remove members to make space, otherwise the character will appear to go off to who knows where, possibly to wait for you at a different location, but in reality they will disappear from the game (I keep forgetting and then recalling too late, every time, with Garrick. To this day I have yet to have him in my team because I keep forgetting). Not sure this is the case with EE companions, but it is with at least Garrick, so I hope this helps anyone before you lose on someone you may have wante in your team!

Also be aware that some companions have a reaction roll when you meet them and may not join you. Iirc, the option to ask them to join doesn't show up in that case.

I forgot how it was reaching the end of the explorable map and the fact the cursor doesn't turn into the "travel wheel" when I move the mouse on the black edge fills me with the same dread of standing over the world's edge to look down at an impossible blackness, I love it.

Badge should be for completeing the OG only. Ripping off contents, claiming them as your own then taking down the original is a poojeet behavior and you shall NOT support poojeets even if you get it for free.

You can download the originals if you buy the EEs, but that requires buying the EEs.

Found an explanation on how to do it
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articl ... roduct=gog
And some comments on it if anyone is interested in reading more on it as, without actually owning it on GoG to test it, just reading from the image looks confusing (at least to me).
https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_ ... rsion_gone
I wouldn't give those that added "*****" idiocy (Siege of Dragonspear) a single penny, but it is good to know for anyone that wants to buy them there anyway or owns the game there already.

Thank you once more for the information rusty!
