Fascinating how the only difference between the population of downtown LA and a fantasy world is that one has their people wear armor.
It's the continuous disrespect that gets me. If it happened occasionally, I could have gotten over it. But it's been 10 ******* years, nonstop, where the "paladin" character is either black, or a woman.
Or, if you are Paizo, a black woman! They call that a double whammy!

And that's since the very first Pathfinder 1e books. But sure, "3e/Pathfinder is not woke and is totally the bestest edition evar, guys!"

I wanted to like this thing. I'll even recommend you go play Solasta: Lost Valley. It is genuinely good. Couldn't get through the Solasta 2 demo.

Visually it is UGLY. There's a blurry grainy filter applied to everything as if this was some photo posted on social media that someone wanted to add faux sophistication to.

You also can't zoom out so you can't really see anything in combat and combat is SLOW.

Deeply saddened that we have another 10+ years of D&D 5e ahead of us.

This is basically every UE5 game, TAA is deeply intertwined with the rendering part of the engine.

The first one was amateur and low fidelity. This one is aggressively incompetent and high fidelity.

Given the choice I'll take looking at a child's drawing over having sand blown in my face in a museum.

Always was, UE4/5 games are near impossible to mod beyond basic mods. Standard Unity games are basically just behind a thin "please don't touch this" pane of glass.

Main issue with 1 was they decided to do closeups of awful character faces.

Why did they have to release a demo. I almost convinced myself this one is going to be better.

They published a long *** AMA. Not going through all of that, but one thing caught my eyes. They are using karmic dice (again), but at least you can deactivate them :dice:

Well, I asked GROK to do a TL;DR of it

TL;DR of the Steam Next Fest AMA for Solasta 2:
The Solasta 2 team, including directors from various departments, answered over 30 community questions. Key points include: customizable difficulty settings and sliders will return, but no plans for a level 20 cap or romancing bosses. Flying will aim to be as smooth as in Solasta 1, though not guaranteed yet. No returning NPCs from Solasta 1, but the same world and era will be explored in new lands. Features like mounts, a Dungeon Maker, and hand crossbows are not confirmed, pending time and budget. The game will stick to D&D 5e SRD rules, not BG3’s, and karmic dice will return to balance RNG frustration. A supporter pack is likely, localization will expand based on demand, and console versions are being considered post-PC Early Access. The game will be complete after Early Access, with DLCs possible for extra content, not withheld features.

Switching engines was a massive mistake when they already had all that foundation built from their first game

i think the most blatant one is the black fem paladin in 3.5 players handbook. The Ruleset was good but it already went woke af.
You're thinking of Pathfinder:
β–Ί Seelah, Pathfinder Iconic Paladin
The D&D 3.5 one was the half-elf woman with weird armor:
β–Ί Alhandra, 3.5e Iconic Paladin
Not much better, admittedly!

But there was no way to do better faces in the other engine!!

Faces are the most important part of an isometric game.

They consider the cinematic dialogue an essential part of the game, unwilling to drop it.

Does the timeline of that actually line up? I am doubtful.

Maybe.
Them deciding to do a kneejerk reaction instead of waiting to see what Unity's reaction would be is really dumb, tho.

No, my memory mixed the monk and the paladin of 3.5 together  i never played pathfinder
still shows that d&d was ****** all the way back in the 90s the wokeshit started very early on.

it just blew up when they went out of nerd territory into mainstream media

Finally started playing through the first game. 30 hours in I'm honestly having a great time. Feels a lot more like og BGs/D&D than BG3 ever did to me. Yes it's very plain and lacks depth in many aspects, but there's an admittedly naive yet adventurous and even legendary feel to it. I like that your party are nobodies starting from scratch. I like the map travels. I like the dark dungeons and the use and relevance of light. Comparing to BG3, I actually like that not every NPC tells you his life story that's irrelevant to anything you're actually doing or that maps aren't huge and crammed with things to click but instead rely on your imagination for a sense of scale.

I hope they don't blow it trying to mimic Larian with the next one. And for the record I do like Larian but they just don't get what atmosphere means imho.

I don't understand why they changed game engines instead of just improving what they have. Now it's going to look like any other Unreal slop and it'll be **** for UGCs.

After the stunt they pulled off with the Kickstarter for their first game, they would have to make the RPG of the century for me to care.

Apathy is death. And all they will get is apathy.
