I rarely if ever play as a self insert character in an RPG, I find that dull and pretty pointless. I always prefer playing as a separate, lore accurate character with at least a rudimentary "story" in mind. I will never think that Wood Elf was me, nor do I consider chopping my balls off and getting a pair of silicone breasts to compliment my beard. I also would not design a female character to fit any warrior archetypes, because females aren't warriors. They would only be suited to mage or rogue characters, ones that wear light gear and are more nimble.
