Has a 2 hour trial until Jul 17th, decided to try it again to check the performance, still runs like ***. Getting ~40 FPS in the first encampment with everything on the lowest setting… and on the highest.
Honestly don't know why they'd even bother doing a trial when most people are just going to do it to see if it runs like ****(it does)
the engine is simply not made to handle many NPCs - there's realistically nothing they can do to improve general performance outside of porting to game to another engine altogether, and that's obviously not going to happen.

devs either got ****** by Capcom insisting on their proprietary RE Engine to avoid licensing fees (something EA and CDPR already learned the hard way that you shouldn't do), or they just didn't want to bother using a separate development pipeline for this game in particular.
Wouldn't it be possible to remove NPCs from the game aside from those that are important? I don't believe that all those people in the cities are important. They just say 1-2 irrelevant sentences and thats it.

Yeah they pretty much showed nothing new with regards to this game, it feels like Itsuno's portion should've just been a part of the PlayStation Showcase a while back. No clue why they bothered.

The best announcement from this was the Ace Attorney 4-6 Collection. I was wondering when they'd finally get around to releasing something like that.

What are your thoughts on the Ace Attorney 4-6 Collection announcement? Do you think it will attract new players to the series?
Not many. I think most people who will buy that already are fans of the original versions. By now there are waaaaay too many re-releases out there to attract the general player base, and Ace Attorney is way too niche for that anyway.

People been doing that "manually" through slaughtering rampage but yeah am surprised a mod that removes non essential NPCs from cities wasn't yet made.

If I can just play the original game and it has the same flaws but has dark arisen which fixes some of them, why would I buy a 70 dollar game with mtx and really ****** performance?
Because the core of the experience - combat and exploration - are much more robust and well realized here than in DD1.

***** made DD2 into a glorified remake of DD1, complete with the same environments, same monsters, same abilities, and the same gay unfinished story. He was even petty enough to ditch every good idea that was brought in with the Bitterblack Isle expansion because he wasn't the one who made it.

What was the last fun mp game? Vanilla TF2? Left4Dead? I haven't given a **** about mp in so long. I'd almost say I hate the entire concept now outside of MMOs

Last good multiplayer games was COD:MW2 and COD: Black ops after MP focus to hero shooters which I have zero interest in.

Is this good or bad news for Dragon's Dogma 2 as a game? Should I keep away from updating it if something for it comes out? I have been using this game to pass the time when I am sick among others, would hate to lose it to "corrections" (adding "inclusivity" or removing things that are "not inclusive") made after release.

I'm so tired of every souls game having a "bleak, dead, empty" world. Rather get a Happy Souls with enough NPCs to make a proper RPG (instead of an Action game) for once.

There is no need to get so worked up about someone not wanting to play the same slop (with a few name changes) over and over.

He's not wrong though. Elden Ring would have been so much more than a hollow stretched out DS3 level had they been willing to stop overusing the tired dying world x edgelord NPCs trope for once. And I'm saying this as someone who considers DS1 one of the best games ever made and who's played every Souls multiple times.

yeah, with how big they made it, and the open-world aspect of it, you'd think they'd make at least a few settlements or encampments with friendly npcs or at the very least non-hostile npcs. would give it a bit more of a 'lived in' feel to it instead of the largely empty open world. that and some areas felt odd where the enemies just attack on sight when it doesn't exactly make much sense (not entirely mindless enemies, ones that would align with certain factions etc)

He's saying he wants a Dark Souls game that isn't set in a crapsack world where everything is bleak and nihilistic. That goes for all Souls-likes in general.

Tbf, the main thematic inspiration for the first Dark Souls game was the BERSERK manga series by Kemtaro Miura, and this very same manga was the grandfather of the grimdark fantasy genre.

But even then, even BERSERK has its occasional spot in the world where living in peace is totally possible. Dark Souls and its successors dialed up the grimdark to 11, I do agree on that.

no

to be clear, a lot of sword of sorcery is 'grimdark'. Just off the top of my head, I know things like The Black Company & Kane predate berserk. Almost certain you could trace it to at least the Gothic fiction of the 18th century tho

Is there somewhere I can read up more on this? Have no idea of the behind the scenes such as this, though I did notice Berserk started changing as a manga at some point (Puck getting stuck into "comedy form" for example).
