You really liked the story?

Let's detach the dork souls faggotry inserted in this JRPG. Did you really liked the story? Because that's one of the worst aspects of the game.
It has it's problems but overall yes, it was very good

Sure is better than the average jap story tho "Muh lets go on some wacky adventure and then kill God" or " Muh we have to bully countries that don't want their lands flooded with foreign masses"

I been seeing a bunch of comments about this game having a budget of 5 million. I very doubt that’s this case especially when there are a bunch of celebrity VA’s in game but I wasn’t to get confirmation for dev cost .

No way it was 5 million. The core dev team of 30 people over 5 years would cost around 30 million (200k average employee cost X 30 employees X 5 years). You might drop a few million if they scaled up over time and if they were fully remote, but there's 0 chance it was less than 20 million.

Edit: Forgot they were frogs. Their average employee cost is probably less, but even at 50%, you're still at 15 million. And that's not including the cost of the outsourcing.

Even taking the VA's entirely out of the equation, there's no ******* way this game cost anywhere near that little to make. I'm not saying it was massive or anything but there's just absolutely no way it was 5 mil

I just want to say to the people who keep saying the following for this game.
  • “is a game changer”
  • ”redefines JRPG’s”
  • ”Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is embarrassing the game industry”
  • “Expedition 33 Is a wake up call”
  • “Masterclass in storytelling”
  • “Expedition 33 Broke the industry”
  • “Expedition 33 is peak gaming”

Please do yourself and everyone else the favour in doing a summer salt flip off a short cliff.

Not just any masterpiece, please don't sell this gaming event short. This is a JRPG, nay, an immersive ludo narrative experience that toppled the AAA houses and single-handedly changed the gaming industry forever. Nothing like this has been since in the past 2 decades, if ever. Wait until the movie comes out and does the same to Hollywood. You naysayers are pathetic but, I guess haters are gonna hate. Reddit was right about you guys.

I don’t give a **** about GOTY—dogshit games win that all the time, it means absolutely nothing.

What actually matters is how many copies it sells and how many people are still playing it. And right now? The numbers aren’t even that impressive. Schedule1 is stomping your “goty” without even trying

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had a peak of 145,000 players this weekend . Not earth shattering but pretty good numbers for a AA game.

So I've been curious enough to get this game from a fit girl. I'm in Act 2.

It's okay so far but no way is it a masterpiece or any such hyperbole.
But I guess when you're dying of thirst in the desert, even stale water feels like heaven.

On a different note, I had finally got accustomed to the parry / dodge / jump dodge QTEs and this ************ of a game introduces yet ANOTHER, DIFFERENT parry with the Gradient stuff. That's now 4 different QTEs to speed react to and 4 different keys to reflex press correctly.
And all I can say is :

Good game but It's indeed woke, can't play defense for a game just because you happen to like it or else we are just allowing cultural marxism to keep spreading.

This is my review of this game.

The game did somewhat of a U-turn in the final act. I was completely sick of the combat by the end of act 2 and the overlong, extremely tedious "final" dungeon didn't help matters.

Then it suddenly became fun again. They bust the damage cap, high level pictos supersede your stats and let you min-max your builds (there are some that give more health than a maxed 99 VIT stat), new moves unlock, new passives greatly up your energy generation, and throw a lot of cool optional bosses and areas at you. You pretty much have to break the game to beat these and they're epic. You have to pump out insane damage to win and they are throwing ridiculous combos back at you that in some cases can full-wipe you, and sometimes with multiple boss-tier mobs in the same fight. It's one of the better endgames I've seen in a while.

You may need to be careful how you build and who you give your lumina points to because some characters may not be able to scale up as damage dealers and that would make the game very difficult. These are my observations:

Aside from the visuals and music this is a 6/10 game that people on here are being overly harsh to because media is astroturfed
This is news somehow

Would agree with that. If you are into QTE combat probably even higher.

Gave the game a third chance and now I'm doing nothing else, lol. It's quite enjoyable, despite the aforementioned flaws.
Just beat everything with solo Maelle. Anything else as broken as Medalum & Stendahl?

The funny thing about that is the strongest ability in the entire game is a single hit attack of hers, Stendahl. Not sure if that's the case until endgame though, I didn't even start using it until I did the "superbosses" (which it trivialized)

Hell no, with the right build, weapon level, etc you can one shot anything in the game multiple times over

Yeah, it even trivializes the Endless Tower.
The game balance is kinda whack. You really have to beeline the main story before doing any side content in order for it to remain challenging.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't know about it until after I did the Endless Tower, I didn't even have Medalum at that point either. My Verso was pretty OP but nothing insane like Maelle is capable of. I did some side content in act 1 but after that I pretty much just rushed the story because I knew I could finish the side content after and I didn't want to be too op for it, but honestly I'm not sure how they could've balanced it better without actually scaling the story stuff to your level/gear

A somewhat flatter power progression curve may have been better, but on the other hand all the powerful pictos enable quite a bit of build variety.
Stendahl is really busted though, I wonder whether that's intentional or a bug.
