If want to defend mid trier gooner **** more power to you in enjoying slop.methoxetamine wrote: ↑ June 17th, 2025, 23:42You sound like a whiny leftoid. The game is actually good, it's not just "gooner ****". The combat is very fun and deeper than it seems on the surface. The story isn't the greatest but it's decent and more than passable for a character action game. It has the most generous offerings of cosmetics I've ever seen in a single player game in my life despite being made by gacha devs and also has zero microtransactions whatsoever. Also the OST is incredible and elevates the entire game. It's not a soulslike despite people calling it one because they're ******* that think Fromsoft invented 3rd person action combat and checkpoints. If you don't like action games then more power to you, but you are literally ******** on a game just because it has a hot MC which is exactly what ******** doUnhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:23I truly hate these people. “Hey guys we don’t give a **** about the actual game so long it has T&A to rub one off to. Take that journalist”
******* pathetic.
The devs are so set from gacha that the CEO/Director is one of the top 50 wealthiest men in Korea, they didn't need to make this game but they did it out of sheer passion, and you can feel that in the game. It was their first non-gacha mobile slop and was already this good.

Good, **** Remedy. Needing 3 million sales of a $40 game seems like a bit much to break even on a 30 million Euro budget thoughUnhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ June 18th, 2025, 16:14IMG_5438.jpeg

FBC Firebreak is ok tbh. Nothing really woke about it, except maybe that your character can be male and female depending on which voice you choose. It's a budget Vermintide/Darktide

When did you first notice journalists bringing up the ‘boring, stale white male protagonist’ thing and the sudden fuss about lack of diversity? Late 2000s or early 2010s?
They were already testing the waters with the sandbagging of Japanese games and their protagonists in the 2000s.psychic_dream wrote: ↑ June 18th, 2025, 22:35When did you first notice journalists bringing up the ‘boring, stale white male protagonist’ thing and the sudden fuss about lack of diversity? Serpent Isle fridge thoughts:
Isn't it funny how all the people who left Lord British's tyrannical rule are deeply flawed in some way?
Isn't it funny how 90% of them are dead before the game is over? (I don't care that this was due to time restraints, this is what happened)
The ophidian virtues are blarggblargbl if they keep writing doubletalk maybe no one will notice they aren't saying anything. Really, this is a prime example of trying to dump exposition on the player and hoping they'll care.
Tolerance is not and never will be, a virtue.
Blackthorn wound up here when he was exiled, but I think it got ignored in Ultima IX.
Maybe I'm confused, but it seems like disrupting the balance isn't that hard. An IBM mainframe managed to steal the Earth Serpent away and then The Guardian did something I don't know I kind of stopped paying attention.
What happened to all of The Avatar's serpent goodies when he got dumped in Pagan? I really hate this kind of **** to death.

I have always preferred SH1's narrative focus, compared to SH2, and it still annoys me that SH2's take won out, doubly so because they take a big, fat **** on your achievements from the first game with SH3 - Harry dead and Cybil nowhere to be seen.
I think that largely comes down to the fact they have no other frame of reference for a Silent Hill game.Well, the people who played and loved the originals SH2 back in the day did bat an eye, but most of the normal gamers enjoyed the remake for what it is, and never noticed how James hops over obstacles and whacks like four hundred enemies throughout the game like it's RE4.
I can't even really blame them, Silent Hill had been a moribund franchise before Konami realized the pachinko mines were drying up and decided to pivot back to gaming, so the vast majority of the gaming public only experienced Silent Hill via lore videos or Let's Plays.
Agreed. Although I appreciate the more abstract, psychological themes in SH2, SH1 is certainly much sharper and focused in its narrative and pacing. Also, the actual horror elements, like the Otherworld, are better designed for a more visceral experience. I think its best to treat the series as duology of two, great standalone games; at least that way you can treat SH2 as being an interesting sequel with a different direction that is related, but not directly connected to, the first game. The best thing Konami could have done was to end the franchise there. But let's face it, even before Pachinkos, Konami never really gave a **** about Silent Hill other than treating it as a second-tier, monetizable asset (at least compared to Metal Gear), and just making it chug along. Disbanding Team Silent and outsourcing the series to Western studios was the final nail on the coffin.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 07:30Silent Hill 2's psychological take wasn't something that should have been repeated, yet even Team Silent themselves wanted to do so with the original version of SH3. Which wasn't even going to bring back Harry/the Cult. But due to fan demands and wasting development resources on a cancelled GTA clone and a rail shooter, they cobbled together the SH3 we ended up getting. That's why the part of the town we see in that game is a straight rip of SH2's map, and not "Paleville", which was the location we explore in SH1.
The more I think about it the more I think the first game should've stood alone. It's a complete work with an intriguing setting and premise that got diluted more and more with each passing sequel.
And there is no greater proof of just how fragmented and diluted the franchise has become, than the 'Silent Hill Phenomenon' that was an actual lore in 'The Short Message' game; the idea that a person with intense trauma and guilt can manifest their own nightmare world, complete with the fog and monsters, where the fog supposedly representing "uncertainty and sensory illusion" that "blurs the line between illusion and reality". This can be ANYWHERE in the world.

I think the bigger problem is that Konami had no clear idea where to go with the franchise after SH3. Silent Hill as a whole never had their own RE4 to reenergize the franchise.
I think the current approach of treating it like an anthology of sorts, where it's not focused on the town of Silent Hill, but different locations that share the name (which I assume is the case with Silent Hill f), or treat it as a supernatural phenomenon that can manifest via trauma, was the right decision for the franchise as a whole.Which ******* ****** wrote this drivel?????
SH4 already wasn't taking place directly in Silent Hill, though that had more to do with the fact it wasn't planned to be a SH game initially.
Mind you, as I mentioned previously, I do wish SH1's version of the lore had won out instead of SH2's, I am far more interested in spooky cults summoning forth eldritch demons than I am with the town playing therapist for a bunch of random yahoos.

What sort of behind-the-scenes scam took place to make Bungie cost 'that' much?. Was Destiny 2 alone 'that' valuable?. Was Bernie Madoff involved somewhere?.

To continue, I had also watched Silent Hill 1 and 3... And the conclusion is the same. Kinda okayish plot, but I was glad that youtube allowed me to skip almost the whole "gameplay" because there's none.
Also, SH2 is obviously the best. All that cult stuff is quite shallow, the devs obviously weren't really into western mysticism. It would've been better if SH3 featured a standalone plot about teen abortion traumas, as dev team originally planned.
And that rust dimension stuff gets stale fast.

I have never watched someone else play a game in my life, I feel like I would get bored within 5 minutes. The exception being checking out just a few minutes of gameplay or a review. I just can't imagine sitting down and watching a LP or God forbid - a streamer
