they didn't do anything like that in sh2 remake, except for uglifying Angela I guess. I can see Poles making Cybil look like an angry female cop butch lesbian, or giving her a girlboss moment where she saves Harry's ***, but that's about it.gerey wrote: ↑ June 14th, 2025, 09:33They're going to make Cybil fat and Mexican.wndrbr wrote: ↑ June 12th, 2025, 15:04So at least it's gonna be interesting to see how they are going to do that.
SH1 is probably the most 'normal' game in the japanese quadrology (play as a cool guy who rescues his daughter from the mustache twirling bad guys), so it would be relatively easy to turn it into a conventional modern survival horror akin to RE2 remake.gerey wrote: ↑ June 14th, 2025, 09:33That being said, you can successfully remake a Resident Evil game because those games are more about the gameplay and mechanics than they are about the narrative.
Silent Hill, on the other hand, was always light on mechanics, with combat and resource management an afterthought, so the only path open to the developers is to expand on the gameplay (and combat especially), because they know consumers are going to complain about the "clunky" gameplay if they keep it faithful, and since SH games are big budget, they can't make them too hardcore.
they did that to SH2 and no one batted an eye.gerey wrote: ↑ June 14th, 2025, 09:33What you then end up with is deeper combat that feels more visceral, but also actively undermines the SH premise of being some random schmuck stuck in a supernatural town, scared out of your wits. can't have that if James is beating up on the nurses like a GTA protagonist after ******* a hooker.
Well, the people who played and loved the originals SH2 back in the day did bat an eye, but most of the normal gamers enjoyed the remake for what it is, and never noticed how James hops over obstacles and whacks like four hundred enemies throughout the game like it's RE4.
At least they’re working on a new Perfect Dark game, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Their recent stumbles in both software and attempts to gloss over poor Xbox sales don’t paint a good picture. It could end up like Sega and the Dreamcast, with the console ultimately getting discontinued.
Problem is most are 32bit and dont even start. I would be fine replaying C&C Red Alert2, Generals, Tibirian Sun again if I could just easiely install it without problems and it runs. And that I dont have to give EA money ofc or need an extra account or second launcher.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ June 13th, 2025, 14:44people who demand games get remakes need to be shot
if you can't enjoy the game as-is, then it's not for you, **** off
And I find that I don't accept the general attitude towards the endings
They made Angela FAT and Maria ugly, but yes, I do agree that fat/ugly is as far as they're going to take it with Cybil.wndrbr wrote: ↑ June 14th, 2025, 11:28they didn't do anything like that in sh2 remake, except for uglifying Angela I guess
I have always preferred SH1's narrative focus, compared to SH2, and it still annoys me that SH2's take won out, doubly so because they take a big, fat **** on your achievements from the first game with SH3 - Harry dead and Cybil nowhere to be seen.SH1 is probably the most 'normal' game in the japanese quadrology (play as a cool guy who rescues his daughter from the mustache twirling bad guys), so it would be relatively easy to turn it into a conventional modern survival horror akin to RE2 remake.
I think that largely comes down to the fact they have no other frame of reference for a Silent Hill game.Well, the people who played and loved the originals SH2 back in the day did bat an eye, but most of the normal gamers enjoyed the remake for what it is, and never noticed how James hops over obstacles and whacks like four hundred enemies throughout the game like it's RE4.
I can't even really blame them, Silent Hill had been a moribund franchise before Konami realized the pachinko mines were drying up and decided to pivot back to gaming, so the vast majority of the gaming public only experienced Silent Hill via lore videos or Let's Plays.
The more I think about it the more I think the first game should've stood alone. It's a complete work with an intriguing setting and premise that got diluted more and more with each passing sequel.

yeah it kinda sucked that Harry got killed off-screen, but at least the game never shits on him. In fact, parenthood/fatherhood is one of the core themes of SH3, with Heather growing up as a mentally healthy and strong willed person due to being loved by her dad, and Claudia becoming a ****** up tragic figure after being abused as a child.gerey wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 07:13I have always preferred SH1's narrative focus, compared to SH2, and it still annoys me that SH2's take won out, doubly so because they take a big, fat **** on your achievements from the first game with SH3 - Harry dead and Cybil nowhere to be seen.

The real tragedy is that the shift from sh1 to Sh2 meant a shift of design for the whole series, later even with shattered memories for the Wii retroactively. There was nothing wrong with the supernatural plotline of 1 and 2 could have been it's own thing, but now it has been made all the same. I am expecting the remake (I did not see that was announced) to focus more on that as well.wndrbr wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 07:38yeah it kinda sucked that Harry got killed off-screen, but at least the game never shits on him. I'm genuinely curious now if the new owner will allow No Alphabets and similar mods to stay up in Nexus.
Even better if NA ends up being the most downloaded mod in the new Nexus.

95% chance that it's ********.
This game could’ve easily been just another generic, uninspired release lost among the dozens flooding the market each year, if the producers hadn’t made sex appeal the main selling point.
It’s actually insane that we’ve reached a point where promising titillating content can almost guarantee steady revenue. My younger self never would’ve imagined this becoming such a core part of gaming culture. When will this ****** up timeline ever end?

It looks like some company called Choson bought them out. They focus on monetization for gaming startups.
Rusty had better get MODHQ 2.0 out the door soon, this is his chance to take over.

“Hey guys we don’t give a **** about the actual game so long it has T&A to rub one off to. Take that journalist”

Did a double take on the person posting this
Also, 3m is not that high. I've seen this repeatedly where games sell in the low millions and people act like it's a major success. It might be doing well vs development costs as it doesn't seem to be high budget, but 3m is not in the ballpark of being a big success.

It's aesthetically a very ugly game though. There isn't even a consistent artstyle between human characters.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:43Here we go again with the "sexy women = bad". Doesn't matter, it's still an appealing game to look at. Both in design and in motion. You want to nitpick ******* Stellar Blade rather than deny ugly slop?.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:49It's aesthetically a very ugly game though. They're both ugly in different ways and Concord is probably more fun to playKnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:51Doesn't matter, it's still an appealing game to look at. You're telling me you'd prefer Concord, unironically?. What's wrong with you *******, are you all on cold medicine or something?. They are not "ugly in different ways", that's a cope and you know it. One is objectively more appealing than the other, and it's sure as **** not the game with Bazz in it.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:52They're both ugly in different ways and Concord is probably more fun to playKnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:51Doesn't matter, it's still an appealing game to look at.
