Until at least a couple weeks post release, we won’t know how much more KCD 2 sold than its previous entry.

Most likely as people have been saying it will be profitable but not breakout out success of BG3 or The Witcher 3. Anything else’s is just arguing over semantics.

The big question is what was Embracer sales expectations for KC2 . The publisher is currently facing serious financial difficulties I would think they were hoping for big sales numbers.

I'm curious about that too. Vavra's behavior online isn't the kind of behavior you would see from someone who is happy with his game's success. Could be the autism or the consequences of being terminally online. However, his antics, such as doxxing people on X, is not what you would see from people who are successful with their endeavors. It could be that Embracer was expecting this game to be a smash hit. Something that would get them out of the financial hole they are in. The fact that they put all their hopes on this game to be a smash hit shows how desperate they are. The game sold well but it isn't going to be the smash hit AAA game that they want it to be.

First my writing is kinda garbage and strange, sorry about that
I found the start very annoying (for it free I am not supporting the game), there was much pre scripted scenes, very AAA, also the tone/attitude of people feels different more modern, the scene at the being with the bathing was gay as hell, ONLY a gay man would make that scene, maybe I'm just biased now, ive seen all the anti wokes destroying the game. So the game is already tainted for me, their (Henry and Hans) friendship feels gay coded to me, they were bitching like two chicks way too much, I know NO man I've talked to like that, we argue, almost fight sometimes, we don't ***** like a couple, they got their clothes wet and were running around with their asses on display, it was defo for homos, one of the artists is LGBT plus and activist, I've also met a few chicks that were annoying and butch seeming but not dog ugly, but I feel nervous about what's next, I met one beggar chick that felt, very modern American woman not Mediaeval at all, she was bragging about being independent, and was travelling around alone, so also saved me and helped me out, for no good reason (feminist coded) , im not looking forward to the N, in short the first game felt quaint old-fashioned, this one not so much, I think the guns/crossbows might have been added just there to enable dangerous women, them sword fighting to would too woke for them to excuse, just speculation

KCD1 sold 500k after 2 days, KCD2 1M after 1 day. Took KCD 1 about 10 days to pass the 1M mark

It's hard to say how relevant that sort of comparison actually is. In 2018 when the first game released Steam had about 90 million active monthly users. Now, in 2025, it has about 132 million, which is a percentage increase of 46.67%. Going from a peak of 96 069 to 176 285 is a percentage increase of about ~83.5%. Extrapolating from that I'd guess that relative to the original game it has most likely sold more copies, but not substantially so. What really matters here is how much the game actually cost them to make, how much more then spent on it over the original and how much they spent on advertising, because even if it sells 2 or 3 times the original it could still be a devestating financial failure. The original game is stated to have sold "over 8 million" copies up till the present day, but the vast majority of those sales were not at full price during the crucial opening weeks of the game. The majority of those sales were likely made during deep Steam sales where the lowest recorded price for the game is literally only $2.99 USD.

In any case, has there been any sort of confirmation yet to the claims that Henry cannot pull his sword out inside of the (historically fake and revisionist) synagogue? I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, but I haven't seen anything which confirms it yet.

By volume, Chyna is buying the most copies, and they already pay half off. It's not selling that much better than the first game.
