Apparently the title's literal translation could be "The Legend of the Noble Hero: Loyal Blood, Devoted Heart" and some other similar transliterations, which sounds much cooler imo.
Can any of the Chinese speakers comment?

You can't really literally translate that. The first part is OK, second I would more read as loyalty until death.

It seems the game actually has a modding SDK, but I think all the docs are in chinklanguage.
That would explain why there was only like 10 pages of Non-Chinese mods on the workshop and only 8 English mods. These are the only 2 English mods that seem worthwhile:

English Quickfix
A mod that fixes some grammar mistakes as well as textboxes with "[/n]" error in them.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... earchtext=

Reworked Riddles (Work in Progress)
A mod that allows riddles to be solved logically in English. Unfortunately, the only riddles translated at this moment are the beginning exams. I recommend favoriting and subscribing in order keep up with any updates made.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... earchtext=
Btw even these mods will disable achievements which is the main method of unlocking more points/ options for the character creator.

Sounds fun. Seems like I might as well wait a bit if they're actively fixing up the translation though.
I was looking for a better translation myself, but the only mod that seems to have attempted this that I found (located here https://www.nexusmods.com/herosadventure/mods/1 on Nexus) has been seemingly discontinued and has also stopped working according to the comments

'Short' refers to daggers and brushes, I think.
'Long' refers to staffs and spears
A big problem is that the UI doesn't leave enough space to add a more descriptive text, Chinese being able to get away with using a few symbols, while English requires significantly more. "Short" and "Long" were the best anyone, either dev or community member, could come up with.
If you're in their discord(?), is there any chance you could ask them why they use il2cpp instead of mono? The latter makes the game easily moddable.

Also, a major annoyance is the notification text spam when harvesting. It takes forever and usually doesn't go away until zoning. Surprised that I can't find anyone else complaining about this.

By the way, this mod was created for when there were only Chinese characters, no English, the Bepinex overlay detects the character combinations and translates them to a given translation (regardless of context which isn't helpful for Asian languages lol).

So it won't ever continue, as there's no point, the official English already does what this did. I suppose you could use the auto-translate to detect things like "QG"/ "Quigong" to translate into "Speed" or something like that. There's an .ini file to edit. But the way it injects text might not be appealing.

I prefer things like 'quigong', I don't want it fully localized as it will lose meaning. Terms that don't translate properly should be retained. Same thing with dao.
Just need a codex or something.

Sure, but it's the only workable example I could thing of. There is an explanation if you hover over all your stats, so the confusion doesn't last long.
There's lots of odd translations that I don't think you could really use the BepInEx detection for, because it's context dependant as to whether the translation was good or goofy.

They should do what Troubleshooters: Abandoned Children did.

More generally, if the game takes place in some *****-adjacent setting, I like when they use the original terms when there's no direct localization. It makes it clear it's a foreign concept you need to consider differently and makes the world feel more exotic. But if it's nips making a pseudo-medieval European setting, just localize bushido to chivalry for the knights. It really takes me out of it when fantasy-Europeans drop Asian terms like it's natural.

The mechanics and what it represents are different. Qinggong being untranslated gives it a mystical feeling :weeb:

It's likely machine translation + a good chunk of it is manually cleaned up by an English speaker. AI is significantly better, translation is probably the task LLMs are best at.

To be fair, what people call "machine translation" these days (DeepL, Baidu, Google Translate) are actually Neural Machine Translators, which are AI if you consider LLMs as AI anyway. According to the discord, it started as a "machine translation", then it was re-translated by non-native English speakers and then community volunteers went over it.
