Daggerfall is already a flawless game
i am pretty sure you are joking but i have to disagree

i bugged it almost instantly cause a villager was counted to a witch alcove and i never found him again after returning form the quest
I am, but I still question their ability to improve on its design.

Yikes. This also popped up on their YT community channel. They were quick to follow up with a post stating:

"We see folks lost the ability to have fun on the internet. Such a shame as this is a really fun fan art, with lots of attention to detail when it comes to the world's lore, that we wanted to share with everyone."

... Not something I would call "really fun". Nor am I interested in the game if this is something that follows world lore. Then again, this is also the same company that created a merch store for their unreleased, pre-production game moments after the Kickstarter ended. Sigh...

Father of the Elder Scrolls, big name open-world procedural gen RPG. — Years passed and still hasn't even produced a vertical slice and blown a ton of money out of his ***.

Literal who indie azn dev who made a King's Field clone — Just put out his Early Access product for his own proc-gen Daggerfall game.

It would appear that Julian Lefay is stepping away from his role as technical producer on this, due to his battle with cancer. It sounds like doctors have told him that his remaining time is very limited. Regarding Wayward Realms and its development, the team says that "he's documented his vision and concepts" so that they can complete the game.

Edit: This was the video put out by the company.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

Not much to say other than **** cancer. Obviously, I didn't know the man personally, but it sounds like he was committed to his work for as long as his body would allow. He certainly leaves behind a legacy.

They announced a few days ago that they ditched Unreal and are building their own engine, which is apparently a fork of Wicked.

Yeah, I think I dropped it from the wishlist months ago. Losing Julian will just let the creeps inch their way into the design.

The project died with Lefay, I'd say just let it go but they already took people's money

It's driving me insane holding the cognitive dissonance between "older developers were more talented with fewer people" and having every "from the developers of XYZ" game being an exploitive vaporware. Frost Giant Studios shat out their overmonetized, DRMed Stormgate, Star Citizen and Squadron 42 still in alpha, etc. I guess when people reach a retirement age they just stop giving a **** and want a paycheck.

I'm not able to find any notable game releases that utilize the Wicked game engine. Toss in the lofty claims they've made about what they want to accomplish alongside losing JL, and I'm not exactly sure how much confidence I'd have in this project going forward. Nevertheless, I'm sure they'll push out a 15sec teaser trailer around late 2027 that'll necro this thread.

Note the sharp decline in quality over time. Also note that Jeff is only useful as a comparison because he was already doing lazy cash-grabs and proudly proclaiming it from the jump.

They squandered what little money they had and while LeFay wasn't well, those guys had nothing to show for all their talk and conceptualizing after all that time while he was still active on the project. Devil Spire Falls is further along than this and gets regular updates.

EDIT: And as far as I know, is a one man show.

I keep going back and forth on whether I'd enjoy DSF in its current state. I had a good enough time with the demo, but didn't get too far due to the lack of a save game option. That said, the updates do come rather frequently, from what I see.

There's also King's Crook, say what you want about these games but at least they exist, and in the case of King's Crook he did everything(including creating the modeling program used to create the assets) himself.
