EA wanted something profitable, not this big money-sink
I have to wonder what was going through the minds of the EA executives when they were enacting measures to stop the money bleed.

They'll fire people, cut the budget, take IPs and hand them off to a less difunctional team, but not order the ****** to make an apolitical game, with good-looking characters, aimed at a heterosexual, male audience?
This is goes back to your discussion with Rusty about cheap loans from blackrock. May be EA try to ***** itself to blackrock not for cheap loans but for blackrock to buy their shares?
EA can offset this with their sports division sales but investors will be ******.
EA makes a lot of money from sportsball, it's western gacha.

10 percent on at peak is the running average for most games?
Yes, I've seen multiple devs from various places say this is accurate for the first weekend. After that, it's not reliable.

EA are true believers themselves. Back in 2013 they had a health plan that covered hormone therapy, SRS, and short-term-leave after surgery. Corinne Busche certainly took advantage of this.

No way VTMB2 won't be delayed, they gotta out-pozz this and that requires an entirely new game.

They also got to out-broke themselves in the attempt. (the dev studio, not the execs who bail with blackrock injection$)

The last 10 seconds are amusing.
Every day I hate “centrists” more and more.
Yeah... he praised the game and called out the chuds for being extremist just like the wokester feminists in his first video. But then, he realized all the "positive" opinions where bots and shills and the actual opinion of the gaming audience is that this is **** and is mostly getting clowned and memed in the same infamous pantheon as Dustborn. Now suddenly it turns out he has "changed" his mind. How the turn tables.

But it doesn't matter, normiecattle will still watch and sub because he was "the bigger man" and "was honest about it".

...or so he claims.

I am sure he would never ever lie. He is too much of a "bigger man" and "really really honest" to do so. Just watch his video explaining how he changed his mind! It's exactly as honest as when Youtubers make apology videos crying on camera.

EDIT: I don't know what is worse. That he is just a normiecattle fence sitter that flip flopped his opinion, or that he genuinely couldn't see how this game was **** even after playing it for 2 ******* hours and decided to make a video saying it was fine.

He's more of a normiecon who just doesn't like leftist politics in video games but tries to avoid being one of the anti-sjw grifters.

Has anyone here actually played this? How heavy is the agitprop in the first 2 hours?

The first two hours are 50/50 cutscenes/gameplay. The heaviness depends on your definition of agitprop. A regular normalfag has been slowly boiled for long enough as to not give a **** about the first three companions being women or the writing being subpar even for BioWare. Still, the LA demographics have been shoved into every fantasy show so much that even those normalfags are starting to notice. Even the Critical Grifter, who praised the Fallout TV show and was adamant that it's not woke, has been mentioning anti-white casting more and more often. That might make some casual people raise an eyebrow, it's that obvious with the ****** and ***** elves with nary a white guy in sight. Alas, these casuals have been programmed to avoid expressing their displeasure for the fear of being called racist.
But, returning to the main question, the biggest issue (***** propaganda) is barely present in the first two hours. The breast mutilation scars and the pronouns are tiny options in a sea of other customization options. The "establish your gender identity" dialogue is entirely avoidable.
Still, the biggest and most offensive example of ***** propaganda (i.e. Traash the non-buynary Qunari) must be much further than the two hour mark, as I am about 5 hours in and have yet to even recruit the 4th companion. And, from all the clips and the journoscum reviews floating around, its quest is entirely about trooning out and is unavoidable. It's like Dorian's "My dad doesn't like that I'm gay" personal quest in Inquisition, but even more in-your-face insufferable. The placement of it seems intentional so that all the normalfags that bought the game wouldn't be able to get a refund when they encounter this trash fire.

Rather hated that quest because otherwise he's probably the best companion in the game. I think it's the only time I've taken a companion I knew was gay with me.

Two whole hours, that's like six-times the average attention span. You should be grateful.

Yeah, it's a real shame. Dorian's positions on magic and slavery and Andrastian faith are nuanced. He's principled and acts like a reasonable human being. But when it comes to marrying a beard to continue his family's legacy without even having to stop having gay buttsex, that's suddenly too much for him. I guess **** really are incorrigible hedonists.

That was honestly what turned me against him too. I don't believe that there isn't a single bachelorette in Tevinter who wouldn't jump at the chance to marry a rich mage who doesn't even expect her to put out beyond the obligatory heir and spare. The whole setting for Dragon Age had the gender and homo equality issue backed into the game pretty much since the offset.

Then the ****** Gayder noticed that he wouldn't be able to have his ******** gayngst filled coming-out story in such a world and contrived it to produce Dorian: an entitled tosspot who can't manage to **** a woman once in his life to secure the future of his entire ******* family.

Every time this ******** props up in stories it drives me up the wall. It makes these ******** ******* look like the worst kind of self-absorbed assholes too. I remember some other game where a worthless lesbian princess was supposed to marry a guy to avert a civil war and the "good" choice was to let her run away with (I think?) her handmaid. Outside of the fact that neither of these worthless spoilt brats could survive a year without the royal coffers paying their way through life there's another factor to consider: not having to have mildly boring sex once or twice in your life is not worth a civil war with tens or hundreds of thousands of casualties.

The quest was obviously written with current day politics of "oh how awful it is to be forced into the closet and FORCED to produce an heir!"
It's a perfect example of what people mean when they say "politics in videogames". It makes no sense from his perspective, it makes no sense in the gameworld.

It’s writing is **** and takes the worst element of modern MCU humour and several points it feels like I’m watching an Disney PSA special.

Also it has the most overt progressive politics I seen in game only being topped by dustborn.

I honestly can’t fault him. When making Youtube your job you end up being a fence sitter/ centrist in such political issues or risked be demonetized or banned.

Most content creators would gladly accept being as inoffensive as possible appeasing everyone than to stand on principles and lose everything

I don't think there's any single screenshot that would better represent veilguard. The juxtaposition is perfect.

the absolute cope from game outlets
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is BioWare's Avengers, fully leaning into the idea of a heroic team of powerhouses protecting everyone from the worst of the worst—between bouts of exposition and lots of banter, of course. But unfortunately it's now 2024, the Marvel formula has become exhausting, and BioWare's latest RPG—which I'm now around three quarters of the way through—feels both perfunctory and behind the curve.

"Akshually, people didn't want to buy veilguard because umm… it's too much like a bioware game!"
