Yunli who looks like she's twelve, swings a sword larger than herself, has an ego larger than the entire ship and thinks nothing of trying to steal a sword on a ship she's merely a guest on.
Shes a kid with hang ups from losing her family, its fine. Plus she has one of the best quests in the entire game. The sword quest is just peak writing.

She is also depicted as both having character growth, crushing on the other kid in the ship, and being on par with him, which sparks a fairly decently fun rivalry.

My only issue with this **** is that Yangqin ******* sucks gameplay wise, one of the weakest characters in the game. I really hope the upcoming buffs make him at least mid tier.
Right, they were going to fix/buff older characters, right?

Let's hope Blade gets his horrible split scaling fixed then.

The original Heroes of Jin Yong from 1996 appears to have received a full fan remake. I doubt it's in English, but I'm adding it here for reference.

It's what most of these games are based on AFAIK.

This line makes absolutely no sense in Chinese neither so you can just threat it as reddit-tier writing and translate it to whatever you like.

For posterity:

The first ability you get is 野球拳(yě qiú quán), literally 'wild ball fist'/'baseball fist'. It's inherited from the original 1996 Heroes of Jin Yong game. It's a reference to Yakyuken, japanese strip rock-paper-scissors, and also a reference to 1990s H-games.
I have absolutely no idea how to translate this and keep any of the reference intact. :read:
On the upside I found some cool images from a strategy guide probably seen by like 3 people outside of asia to a game nobody outside of asia played while researching this

Golden Flower Granny brought and imprisoned Wang Nan Gu here because she was dissatisfied with Hu Qing Niu not healing her husband. When secretly releasing Wang Nan Gu, she discloses the location of Butterfly Valley (238, 219) and stated to come and see her when he is free.

Ten Years of Tribulation (Part 1)

"The story of Linghu Chong, a story with no ending, but with great significance and flavor. The encounter between the righteous and the evil, between giants and ordinary people, together constitutes this chaotic and ever-changing Jianghu (martial world). Linghu Chong's life is a complex mix of glory, sorrow, love, and hate. Born in an era of chaos, the only thing he inherited from his parents were a few tattered clothes. He was raised by Yue Buqun, the leader of the Mount Hua Sect, since childhood. He playfully called Yue Buqun and his wife as father and mother as they taught him martial arts, and lived a life free from worry. However, this serene time did not last long. An incident involving the theft of the 'Evil Exorcising Sword Manual' from the Lin family plunged him into a dark abyss."

"Although Linghu Chong is playful and mischievous, he is righteous and kind-hearted by nature. He hates evil as much as he hates enemies. He's also optimistic and humorous. Sometimes, he appears cynical and unconventional. He values friendship and loyalty. For the sake of friends, he would risk his own life. He is not greedy for power or wealth. He can relinquish wealth as easily as dirt. He values love and righteousness, he is willing to sacrifice everything for the lover he recognized. It is also for this love that Linghu Chong has devoted a life-long effort. The so-called 'a true man loves righteously and uses love as salvation,' this is Linghu Chong. Abandoning orthodoxy and seeking different paths, Linghu Chong also has another unexpected destiny."

Character Introductions

Mount Hua Sect

Yue Buqun

"Superficial outer appearance*, the gentleman's demeanor hides a hypocritical heart."

"In the novel, Yue Buqun appears as a dignified gentleman, a moral exemplar of the martial world. He often speaks of benevolence, righteousness, and morality. He appears to advocate for righteousness, yet secretly he desires the position of the Wulin (martial arts world) leader. For this reason, he would stoop to any means. He even wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice his own daughter Yue Lingshan. He is seemingly a master of the Mount Hua sect's swordplay, righteous and awe-inspiring, a symbol of justice in Jianghu. However, behind his back, he is meticulous and cunning, treacherous and deceitful. He is a despicable hypocrite who is skilled at disguising himself. He eventually castrated himself to learn the 'Evil Exorcising Sword Manual', his true colors are exposed and he is ridiculed by the world."

Yue Lingshan

"A lifelong infatuation, heartbroken at death."

"She is the only daughter of Yue Buqun and his wife, a jewel in their palms. She has a pure and kind nature. She is simple, innocent, and lively. Her martial arts are mediocre, but her status is noble. She is deeply loved by her parents and fellow disciples. She originally had a deep affection for Linghu Chong. However, due to a series of misunderstandings, she gradually distances herself from him. Later, she is deceived by Lin Pingzhi's sweet words and eventually marries him. On their wedding night, she discovers Lin Pingzhi's true colors and is heartbroken. She is eventually killed by Lin Pingzhi."

Linghu Chong

"Born unrestrained, wandering the Jianghu."

"He is an orphan raised by Yue Buqun since childhood. He is the eldest disciple of the Mount Hua Sect. He is cheerful, optimistic, witty, and humorous. He doesn't care about worldly affairs and values freedom. He is righteous and kind-hearted and is willing to help others. He is a martial arts prodigy. However, he does not like to be restrained by rules. He is playful and mischievous. He often violates the sect rules, causing Yue Buqun to be displeased. Later, he is punished to think about his mistakes on Mount Simian. He unexpectedly obtains the inheritance of Dugu Qiubai and his martial arts greatly improve. He is eventually expelled from the Mount Hua Sect by Yue Buqun."

it feels really restrictive compared to the other ***** games, maybe I should give it more time but it's like they gutted a lot of the good parts of hero's adventure and replaced it with jrpgisms

Yep, pretty much. Its a more contained experience thats more reminiscent of jrpgs.

If you want something closer to Heroes adventure, you can try this:

It's trying to do everything. I heard about a month or so ago, and it had:
Open world exploration
Farming
City management
Family dynasty
Domain-level army strategy
Plus RPG mechanics on top of that

Oh, and I might be misremembering this, but I think they said every NPC in the game would have it's own schedule - and true to life these bugman cities are filled with npcs.

I just found this video with the dev team's plans.

@rusty_shackleford, Hero's Adventure is also getting a free expansion, though details are sparse still.

I have like 80 hours in this game. Its pretty great, but highly autistic.

You basically run your own wizard school, you recruit wizard students depending on their talent and potential and you go into a lot of fairly entertaining (most of them anyway) minigames where you use said students to get rewards. You can micromanage every student in the school, selecting what spells they learn, what drugs they take, and when it comes to the women if you are guy or guys if you play as a girl, date you and "dual cultivate" with you for extra bonuses.

You have a vampire survivor minigame, a dota lite minigame, a mobile mmo do as much damage as you can minigame, a game in which you customize every room in a dungeon with events to then go through each of them and accumulate bonuses (Need a strategy to build them so you can go through the dungeon as many times as possible, bonus points if you complete them all), and there are other modes too.

Its a very autistic game, but very satisfying when you start warring other wizard schools for supremacy, conquering cities, etc. Theres a dlc which adds furries, but I didnt buy that one, so i cant speak to it.
Just in general a whole lot of content, the activities range from good to bad, but you do need to do them all in order to unlock steps in the main story, though Im not entirely sure if its needed to finish the game.

I don't know if it actually got a full release recently after double checking a couple days ago, for whatever reason steam decided to put its 1.0 release under my recent events or whatever it is.

Guess it doesn't matter.

RPGMaker game, but I'm so far past judging ***** games at first glance that who knows, might be great

****** forte is systems, they make very creative, very original, very autistic systems that I enjoy to play around with.
Their storytelling is, for the most part, dogshit, with very few, rare exceptions, and even in those exceptions its only constrained to certain storybeats and not the entire body of the work.
****** second strength is making good waifus, the women tend to have good virtues and interesting quirks, far from feminist ideology and all that ******** you really cant get away from in the west.

RPGMaker comes with pre existing systems, and its hard and largely unnecesary to come up with new ones. Id just give it a pass.
