As your King, I accept the petition for the investiture of Vergil as Pope. I order the left large room at the head of the castle to be made into a chapel for the spiritual benediction of my beloved peasants.
Ken, the guy we saved from a river, sneaks out in the middle of night after resting here for several days. Our relations with his faction improve from 0->12.
Simping or taunting? You decide.
A raid! And this time, it's not just one idiot who got lost. 4 little guys are pigskins. They heal fast, age fast, can eat basically anything, and can even regrow organs. They also happen to be cowards and are susceptible to fleeing. The two on the left are boarskins, who get larger as they age and are more steadfast.
Our fighters gather in fort. Our Lord takes command and provides a proximity-based combat buff. Everybody else is to remain inside until the skirmish is over.
Lord Stack leads the party to the field. Archers take the left flank, fighters will intercept on the right. Sivan hasn't fully recovered yet so he guards the archers. M'lord takes the first shot at a boarskin equipped with a crossbow.
Arrows are traded back and forth. William takes one to the arm and runs to Sivan to be patched up. Old Man and Lathandra grab medicine and start making their way to the battlefield to take care of the wounded. Neither side wants to take their melee fighters out of cover until the ranged advantage is established. We have more shooters, but these guys can take a lot of damage.
A headshot delivered by Elias sends the crossbowman running, though the ******* still isn't mortally wounded.
The pigskins send in their fighters. With no armor, friendly fire is a serious concern so we have the archers hold off until it's safe for them to circle around the back
Oscar stabs the armored pig in the brain, giving Sivan the chance to take her head clean off. This gives those with the bloodlust trait a huge mood bonus. They live for this ****.
Vergil pierces the next pig's heart, Oscar stabs its lung, and Skull Smasher smashes her skull, which doesn't kill her but does knock her unconscious. Bonecrusher charges the remaining archer.
Sivan drives his spear through the next challenger's arm, mangling it and causing it to separate at the elbow, which sends the remaining fighter fleeing as Bonecrusher keeps the archer pinned in place. With a final blow, William knocks out the opponent.
Before anyone can deliver the killing blow, Old Man shockingly pushes through and starts examining the pigwoman's wounds.
To everyone's shock, he declares that the one-armed piglady with a shattered nose is his... his lover!
As ****** up as this is, the boys decide to leave the decision to Lord Stack and start fighting over loot. We recover 2 helmets, a gorget, and a few big two handed weapons. Skull Smasher sees to the wounded enemies.
There isn't a scrapper among us who didn't take a beating. This fight was a painful reminder that we need to begin investing in protection. We were lucky that nobody was permanently wounded.
Old Man escorts the hog to an unoccupied dungeon cell to await judgement. We have a few options to consider...
Hoss is convinced by Lathandra to embrace Paganism.
Sivan manages to tame a female hyena without getting mauled to death. Bonecrusher knocks her up almost immediately.
Upon our lord's orders this room is turned into a butchery and larder, with new doors leading to the kitchen as well as outside.
A domesticated pair of donkeys happen to wander in and are quickly adopted. Work almost begins on getting a pen set up for them when suddenly....
Lord Stack notices that a gigantic daer has wandered dangerously close to the fort. Should we try to hunt it? Should we hide indoors for a bit until it passes? Getting gored by that thing would be terrible, but maybe enough archers could bring it down before it gets close enough to do damage.
-----------------------------------
Will we challenge the daer? What will be the fate of Old Man's captured pigskin lover? Will the pagans continue to convert more Christians?
ALSO the following villagers are able to choose a special expertise skill they can develop over time. These options are made available when someone hits 15 in a skill they're passionate about. Only one can be taken per person and the choice is permanent. You can also wait for another skill to hit 15 if you want to see more options.
Oh, AND we can promote someone to the Artificer role. People won't be upset if we don't have one, though, and whoever we pick will refuse to do much else besides researching.
