@Oyster Sauce you talked about it being slow to take screenshots while playing, when I want to take screenshots of games I just record it using OBS and go back thru to grab screenshots. Make sure you're recording at a high enough quality. If you're just doing it for screenshots, you can even do it at a very low FPS to lessen the performance impact/space needed.

Vergil has my vote. Already creepy enough to be the priest for the group.

Also, totally made this picture all on my own without any help.

Thanks AI.
A medieval fort typically had several essential rooms and spaces:

Great Hall: The main room for gatherings, feasts, and meetings.

Chapel: For religious services and prayer.

Barracks: Housing for soldiers.

Kitchen: Where meals were prepared.

Storeroom: Storage for food, weapons, and supplies.

Dungeon: For holding prisoners.

Armory: Where weapons and armor were kept.

Stables: Housing for horses.

Latrines: Sanitation facilities.

Lord's Quarters: Private living quarters for the lord and their family.
Not sure about a chapel if we're going for a church. Dungeon and Armory would be fitting.

Do we have options to store food. I assume refrigeration is out of the question but do we have access to something like a root cellar?

You should re-consecrate the main building as a church and build a grand hall for the leader and councilmen.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.

Vergil tucks his new roommate to sleep.
Uh you didn't say I would lose my roommate if he became leader. I change my mind!
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

As your King, I accept the petition for the investiture of Vergil as Pope. I order the left large room at the head of the castle to be made into a chapel for the spiritual benediction of my beloved peasants.

Obviously, our new Pope deserves accommodations befitting of his station, so, in the interest of conserving resources and not wasting too much of my peasants' labor on luxuries, it would be most efficient for him to share the nicest room already existing.

What types of work exactly can I not do now, if any? I still want to be a good King who drags people out of rivers and I want to get to use my buildy crafty skills.

We can cut and store ice in ice boxes during the winter, preserve food with salt, and make passive coolers that barely do anything. A heat wave would be bad.

So I assume the congregation is Catholic, then? Otherwise I think it's frowned upon to have a homosexual/pedophile priest. :smug:

Skull Smasher forms a bond with Bonecrusher while training him. He'll now tail him and protect him whenever he gets into combat. Seems like the last person who needs protecting to me, but oh well.
On the other hand, Skullsmasher seems like the obvious choice for fighting, and you can't tell me that Skullsmasher and Bonecrusher aren't a match made in heaven.

A big buckwheat harvest comes in. I looked up some video recipes for it and it doesn't look particularly pleasant, but we're stuck with it until we further agricultural research. In the upper left you can see an excretion pit I had dug in case someone working the fields couldn't make it to the latrine.
Just make more beer. In the medieval era, as much as two thirds of a peasant's caloric intake could be from beer. Add some honey and use it to stew some meat and we don't need anything else!

Started furnishing the homes and installing fireplaces for the winter.
In hindsight, it was probably a bad idea to build individual houses instead of just alcoves or similar in a shared space. I'm not sure if Rimworld models it, but it is substantially easier to heat a central building than keep several smaller houses warm in winter. Depending on how the game works, it might be a good idea to consider moving everyone into a communal hall, even if it's just over winter.

In game mechanics means that unhappiness will grow when people sleep in communal areas. Ideally, if possible, each person will want their own room unless they have a loved one to sleep with. Each room will need to be heated as heat doesn't travel through walls unless you have ventilation. Not sure if medieval mod has anything for ventilation, I doubt it.

Also, wood is a renewable resource so shouldn't be too much of a big deal.

Optimized cubes that share walls were cut in favor of realism. You'll all be sleeping next to animals for warmth at some point.
