I'm sorry, my fellow users, but no. I will not write an actual high effort OP. We all have our own posts to make and your's starts here. I would not rob you of that.
Thread for discussing Fallout 3 and how Bethesda resurrected Fallout just to **** it even further into the dirt. It all started here
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

I've played through it a few times (and have a current playthrough on pause right now). The world of Fallout 3 is pretty enjoyable to go through and the rot hadn't full set in so you're able to have a pretty fun time with it. If anything I would play through Fallout 3's side content and then **** off to the Mojave.

I liked the part where the space marines fight the warboss because my favorite thing to do in Bethesda games is surveying the aftermath of battles and putting friendly bodies in dignified positions with their weapons resting in their laps :)

I've given too many random NPCs in bethesda games burials at sea as a kid.

It's hard to find a game I hate more than Fallout 3 despite never having played it or even watching gameplay or cutscene videos or reading reviews of it. I heard the plot is that you're looking for a middle aged man who might be your dad.

He's definitely your dad. You start the game as a baby and growing up in the vault.

Counter-Point: between the black mother and irish father you're playing as a full blooded african (beast of the field).

One of the biggest things that bother me about Fallout 3 is how there is still the potential for an interesting story to be told with it's framework. It's like there was an open ended RPG that had someone run through and then decided to force everyone to conform to that person's playthrough.
If I were to change Fallout 3's main story while maintaining the same basic framework these are the things I would change.

First, I would split the plot into two main paths: The Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave
Within these two paths I would explore the ideological struggles both factions face but are basically ignored in the actual game. The BoS would be defined by the struggle between Lyon's progressive faction and Casdin's traditionalist hardliners. Instead of starting as Outcasts being exiled could be a potential consequence of how the internal BoS struggle is handled.
Likewise the Enclave could be split between Eden's Fallout 2 style cartoonish genocide versus Autumn's measured autocracy. I would also make an explicit connection between the Enclave and Talon Company who would serve as this this game's version of the Salvatores.
This would give them an actual benefactor that makes sense and explain some of their actions instead of just being ******** mercs who have no purpose besides being evil for the sake of it.

I like how the entire plot revolves around a water drought in Washington, DC. It really makes sense how it literally never rains, since it's the driest and hottest place on Earth. Very realistic.

Fallout 3's plot makes more sense when you realize it's just a worse retelling of Fallout 1 & 2.

Is the reason ******** love New Vegas so much because they all stuck their dicks in a meatgrinder over Fallout 3?

****** off that he is another thing wasted on Fallout 3. I guarantee he would have made a much more respectable appearance in New Vegas had it not been for bethesda's heavy handed autism.

When playing TWW, I always treat NV as the 'real' story, and F3 as the looter-shooter funhouse that you visit to try out your cool new grenade launcher in Generic Bandit Ruin #8 or Generic Super Mutant Cave #3 (don't forget the loot chests at the end).

Back in the day, I toyed with the idea of modding the way you switch between the Mojave and Capitol worldspaces. Instead of hopping on the post-apocalyptic transcontinental train (dumb :( ), there'd be this convoluted setup (autistic :D ) where you 'go to DC' by sitting down at the bar at the Vikki and Vance Casino and listening to the drunken ramblings of a retired mercenary who claims to have explored DC four years earlier. The gameplay is just you living vicariously through his stories.
"And then we managed to repair the giant robot, but the government goons in power armor were hot on our heels!"
All the flaws of the F3 storyline could then be chalked up to the fact that he's drunk, old, and probably full of ****.
