Mediocre or bad games can still have parts that are good.

He's actually right. As a writer of over 30 years I can say that artists get more applause and recognition for what they do then writers ever will get. It doesn't matter that the artist can't write for **** and they'll always get to top money because of how well they draw.

Avellone was a designer-turned-writer. He wrote P&P RPG adventures before being hired as … a game designer.
Mitsoda? He was the lead designer of VTMB along with writer. Guess what job he started as? ******* QA, the thing gayder is ranting about.
Arcanum? Written by a guy who used to design Judges Guild P&P modules.

The idea that RPGs have a separation between design and narrative has been a disaster for the genre.
Really, it's no wonder modern big-budget video games feel schizophrenic when you play them because so many jobs have been compartmentalized and split up with very little overlap.

All I know is that Avellone was a writer with a minor in architecture. Which, turns out, is the ideal for an RPG designer.

If I'd want to make a videogame, I'd look for anyone like him.

Moot point, they're both *******.
Currently replaying KOTOR 2, and **** me, the man might be a top tier cuckold, but MCA can (could) write. He is, in my experience, the only vidya writer worth a ****, him and the Arcanum fella with the gnome quest, he's pretty baller too.

I wasn't talking about any particular person. I was referring the industry as a whole. I don't give a flying **** about your worthless opinion.

The videogames industry as a whole has a whole plethora of other issues. Sometimes voice actors don't get credited. And being in the credits is pretty huge, because it's something you can add to your CV/ resume. Meanwhile, most writers get credited.

Fun fact: do you know Zachary Levy? Shazam? He started as Arcade Gannon. The fact that he is now a movie star started with him insisting he gets credited in New Vegas. Most writers don't have that issue.

As far as I know. Feel free to change my mind.

What does this have to do with my statement about artists getting better treatment than writers? I'm genuinely curious.

I thought we put Voice Actors in the "Artist" category.

Maybe if they'd have kept focusing on writing actual stories and less on who the player could **** things might have gone differently.

He's probably jealous that they could write a harem simulator and he had to settle for gay overtones.
