Happy birthday, Morrowind!
21 years ago today a mediocre game about mushrooms released, forever cementing Todd Howard as one of history's Great Men.
Any of you plan on replaying it?

Failtroll. Rolston did all the heavy lifting and Kirkbride did all the drugs.

Irrelevant. Nobody knew who Todd was until he made his "chess club" video about Oblivion. The most important thing Todd did was find Kirkbride laying on the floor of his apartment after he went missing from work.
I think I replayed it last year for its 20th. It was a fun ride, just as I remember it.
The more disturbing thing: I remembered most cities by heart. I guess some things are never forgotten...

I hate Michael Kirkbride. I just do. I hate all the credit he's given and anytime I can take credit away from him I will. I hope he fades away and is only remembered for drug abuse and grooming a child to be his wife.
Ah Vivec, one of the worst cities in gaming. Drab, lifeless and a chore to navigate. Compared to that, finding Caius was a cinch.
I just hope Skywind overhauls it.
I managed to get my kicks from parkouring in Vivec when i had an acrobatic character, but it's still a ***** to find anything in that city even after years of playing.KnightoftheWind wrote: β May 2nd, 2023, 01:28Ah Vivec, one of the worst cities in gaming. It really helps to levitate at least once and then see things from a "vantage point". Besides that? Your map is your best friend.

Levitation is the king, these days i dont play Morrowind without a hefty arsenal of spells for every ocassion. But i played the game through as a non magic user multiple times before i realized i should just stick with battle mage type of character. Both pure rogue and fighter are boring when you can levitate or paralize your enemies for shits and giggles with custom spell while having enchanted daedric armor and weapon.
Vivec wasn't that bad. Wolverine Hall was my weakness, it took me a while to learn that there was one tower that mattered.
What are the best mods for difficulty? Preferably something that doesn't make enemies spongy but still difficult. Scarcer resources and less money but without going full ******.
I used to play with a mod that removes trainers abuse, so you had to train every skill manually. But most trainers had unique quests that gave something like +5 to a skill. And certain guild quests were remade in a way that would require you to have a certain skill to persuade an npc. I would love something similar since that mod is outdated.

Hello, fellow internet contrarians! I too hate it when male artists drink, do drugs, and get young pussy. Let's wipe him from memory!Rigwort wrote: β May 2nd, 2023, 01:23I hate Michael Kirkbride. Kirkbride is responsible for retconning bretons from a celtic race into elf mutts.

But we all know Elder Scrolls lore can transform radically from game-to-game, so they can change that back at any time if they wanted to. Of course we'll probably get a "We Wuz Bretonz" sort of thing instead.
Unironically this.maidenhaver wrote: β May 2nd, 2023, 14:13Hello, fellow internet contrarians! I too hate it when male artists drink, do drugs, and get young pussy.

As a rule of thumb artists are the worst kind of whores. So it's hardly any surprise when most of them turn out to be the kind of degenerate that would make a Lebanese prostitute blush. There's also the notion that one should "separate the art from the artist". Biggest crock of **** I've ever heard, I first read their biographies to see if they're worth a ****.maidenhaver wrote: β May 2nd, 2023, 14:13Tweed wrote: β May 1st, 2023, 18:47Irrelevant. Hello, morality police? We've got a male artist using his talent to snag puss. 10 years his junior, officer. Uh-huh. He can't be over 5 foot. That's right. Thank you. [click]

Nobody actually cares about this, the universe only gets interesting with TES Redguard and the pocket guide to the empire along with Morrowind.rusty_shackleford wrote: β May 2nd, 2023, 14:20Kirkbride is responsible for retconning bretons from a celtic race into elf mutts.
If Kirkbride didn't have a working knowledge of Hinduism and a thermos full of drugs we'd never have had belly-magic, spear biting, or CHIM.

I'd like Morrowind-style spells with Oblivion-style combat and NPCs and Skyrim-style level progression/perks (yeah, I said it).
