The developers seem to understand that coombait sells if the success of Nikke is anything to go by, so I can't imagine this was a calculated decision. Then again, maybe the ESG bucks were worth the backlash?

It's not totally clear. On the one hand, apparently they've censored Nikke of their own accord before and gotten away with it. On the other, this wouldn't be the first time westernized Sony has forced a dev to censor a game released on their platform. Perhaps they didn't anticipate the pressures that would be exerted after going public (ShiftUp used to be privately owned) and then making the game a PS5 exclusive. Anons have been saying that the 'no censorship' tweet was posted after some of the changes had already been made, meaning that it was a lie.

Censoring dozens of things doesn't happen overnight. They were likely in the middle of that work (meaning: planned, approved, actively changed) in the middle of the public praise for sexy artwork.

I don't think this actually matters to coomerism. Apparently most of the outfits are based on IRL outfits which are even skimpier worn by "influencers" (or maybe they are cosplayers or something, I don't read korean). Even outright removing the game from sale wouldn't change that. It isn't just the streamers and onlyfans thots either. I can see women in skintight booty shorts and glorified bras for shirts just going to the grocery store. There are so many hentai games being spammed online that I need to mark "NSFW" as excluded whenever I look at the GOG sales. Losing this fight won't impact the coomers at all, it will just make the terminally online landwhales journalists feel better about themselves because they don't have to see 3d scans of attractive women.
