There is no genre appellation which perfectly summarizes all the features of DRPGs, but DRPG is still more informative and accurate than the nebulous term 'blobber'. Wizardry-like also fails because many DRPGs are not much like Wizardry at all.

There are many non-Wizardry-like games where players spend just as much time in dungeons as so-called DRPGs/blobbers. Dungeons are not a distinguishing feature for these games.

If you play Wizardry 7 with only one character, does it stop being a 'blobber'?

I can figure out what a DRPG is just from the name. I had to ask wtf a blobber is within my first week in the codex.

'DRPG' is the commonly accepted name in the japanese dungeon crawler community to the best of my knowledge, which makes up a massive share of those types of games published now. Previously they were simply referred to as 'Dungeon crawlers'. The names are similar enough.
'Blobber' is a word used by one forum that has gained traction nowhere else. I saw it once cited as being used due to it appearing on Wikipedia, and upon further investigation, the article using the word 'blobber' was citing the book written by Felipepepe. It went full circle. Nowhere else uses the word, nobody knows what it is.

Does each body part get its own turn and abilities?

There's already been single character blobbers.

There's probably some novelty to making a blobber where there's one person, but multiple limbs. Someone should make a game like that.

DRPG is a much better term than "Blobber", for one thing DRPG is in the same vein as JRPG, ARPG, etc. And it makes sense, Dungeon Role-Playing game. It's a role playing game, focused on dungeon exploration.

"Blobber" reminds me of Mr.Blobby, a britbong character, and that's not something you want to remind anyone of.

You picked the worst possible example video to try and dissuade someone from Mr. Blobby. Blobby meeting Hyacinth Bu-cket is high comedy. The only thing that could have improved that would be for Onslow to show up.

DRPG? So a game where you spend the whole time in a dungeon? Like Dungeon Rats? Like Amulet of Nahuelebeck? Like Ultima Underworld?

The most rabid defenders of the term insist that it requires a group to "move like a blob". Single character games need not apply.

Since the term is only found on the Codex, it is of course mega-spergy and probably retradred. Use it if you like, but don't expect others to reply in kind and expect many to ask you to define the term.

Which reminds me: can you define the genre "blobber"?

I'll do better than that, I'll make it part of everyone's lexicon when I make a new channel and cover nothing but blobbers.

The Wizardry 7 manual agrees with me that so-called "RPGs" with full-party creation and no designated main character aren't actually RPGs unless you have multiple personality disorder.

Page 3:
Role playing is just as it sounds. You play the role of something or
someone other than yourself. Just like professional actors and
actresses, you pretend to be a character, acting and reacting to
situations as he or she would.
Singular.

Page 11:
Your player characters are the essence of fantasy role playing.
Through their eyes and actions, you will discoverc01Tidors, creatures
and lands long since forgotten by all but time. And you will delight
in their achievements as they uncover the secrets of Lost Guardia and
advance from novices to masters of their trade.
Plural.

This cannot be reconciled, it's their own definitions.

Explain how this means single main character makes an RPG.

In reality "blobber" is just a forced meme local to the codex. It's not a thing, never will be a thing.
