One of my favorites. Some people are not going to like the jank and gameplay loop, but if you want the ultimate evolution of the retro 2D side-scrolling action RPG like the early Ys games, Astlibra pushes it to its logical limit with tons of story, levels, and equipment. Has a lot of big bosses that were supposedly done by one of the vanillaware guys.

The expansion is OK if you couldn't get enough of the sort of repetitive gameplay in the main game, but doesn't have much of a story and Iiked the main game a lot more.

game is good but i would get the orignal version from archive.org they removed a lot of bodyhorror and censored some mildly racist stuff in the steam version.

I''ve barely started the game and the (supposedly male) protagonist has already: worn a girl's ribbon, been mistaken for a woman, said he'd like to be reincarnated as a woman.
If this is one of those games please tell me now so I don't waste any more time.

It took me an hour to manage to shoot an arrow at a target while jumping up and down in a lava pool, then 10 minutes later I beat the local guardian beast and the reward was lava-proof boots. In retrospect I don't know why I thought that was the intended way to get a pitiful magic crystal, but at least I got a golden chest from the collateral grind.

Update: 15 hours in I discover it is, in fact, one of those games.

Recommended if you like action RPGs featuring homosexual couples and a crossdressing main character.

Very disappointing, I liked the aesthetics and gameplay.

I wanted to post proof but typing a translation feels gay, so that's the best I can do.

I'm glad we exchanged that...
I don't have enough context to know exactly what the last line is talking about, but there you go @rusty_shackleford.

EDIT: Corrected the last line; it was indicative, not subjunctive.

It's not woke at all, it's more that the developer, like every independent (and quite a few mainstream) Japanese developer, can't resist somehow injecting his fetish into the game.

Didn't bother me because I don't read most of the dialogue. Illiteracy wins again.

The context for the latter lines is that she and the hero exchanged clothes.
