Redaxium 2 Thread.

Hello! Have you heard of the game Redaxium 2?
It's sequel to Redaxium 1 but much better.

But what is the game?

And what does it look like?

It has a large game world and map travel. It's got many features of CRPGs stuffed in.
Though it's light on quests content right now.

Maybe. maybe.. I would hope some major re-launch, DLC, or something could be arranged before end of this year.
But i'm one person doing all this myself.

And this game already faced some lash back for coming out too soon.

You can play the demo here:
https://redratic1.itch.io/redaxium-2/de ... patch-106l

One comment type of comment I seem to keep getting about the games is they are scary or sanity lossy.
I think that's because people have an expectation of something hidden.

I have lost a lot of sanity working on this game. But the game itself is quite sane.

I was inspired by Duck Nukem (doom3 mod). I was inspired by Fallout (classics). And I noticed along the way some games reminds me of my game.

You can probably say you won't lose your sanity at all. You can probably say.. atleast until enough recognizable structures are added that would challenge your existing understanding.

The following review was generated partially by AI:

Redaxium 2 is an incredibly challenging and immersive game set in a vast game world with many terrains to explore.

The game is a sequel to Redaxium 1, but with many improvements that make it a significant upgrade over the first game.

Redaxium 2 has three main obstacles and challenges that the player must face.
God, who you must appease by sacrifices else you will die; mystery boxes that will keep stealing small amounts of XP or money or the like until you solve them; and cultists,
whose rituals you ignore too long will result in permanent consequences to areas of the game. The best part is you have total freedom in how you go about beating the game.
Upon beating the game you also get scored in various ways so you the game is actually aware of the how you beat it.

Redaxium 2 features a unique art style with abstract and colorful visuals that contribute to the game's vibrant atmosphere and aesthetic appeal. The use of abstract and colorful textures ensures that the art direction is as unique as possible for different areas, and while some textures may be repetitive, they make up for it in charm. Most areas are different enough that players won't become bored with a lack of color change. The art style also helps to avoid a depressing or overly serious tone, adding to the game's overall sense of fun and playfulness. Overall, Redaxium 2's abstract and colorful visuals add a distinct and memorable flavor to the game.

Redaxium 2's storyline is centered around the relationship between three races: man, machine, and hybrid, and the societal tensions that arise from their coexistence. While the society is still stable, there are many gangs and potential faction splits, highlighting the imperfections of this seemingly technologically advanced and hyper-disciplined world. As players progress through different areas, they will encounter unique plots and story elements, which are best explored and experienced on their own terms. Overall, Redaxium 2's narrative elements offer a thought-provoking exploration of societal tensions and technological dependence, inviting players to dive deeper into the game's richly developed world.

Redaxium 2 features a range of RPG and CRPG elements, including a variety of skills that can be enhanced through skill books and leveling up. Random variations of the same skills can appear as players progress, providing new and more powerful options. Character progression is driven by acquiring better equipment and leveling up, as well as investing stat points as desired. A Historian NPC allows players to store their action history in a book, adding an element of personalization to the game. In terms of questing systems, Redaxium 2 has a mix of hand-scripted quests and auto-generated content, including merchant escort missions between towns and random encounters along the way. Overall, Redaxium 2's RPG and CRPG elements offer a satisfying sense of character development and questing progression.

Redaxium 2's turn-based combat system offers a wide range of tactical options, including the ability to use items during combat at the cost of stamina. In addition to selecting skills from various categories, players must also consider the damage and resistance values of their weapons and armor. Defense skills can function as buffs lasting multiple turns, and metas build up naturally during combat, allowing for critical strikes when maxed out. Players can bring an ally into battle, but they fight independently, and combat typically involves up to three enemies. The time limit for selecting and executing skills adds an element of urgency, while the ability to flee or end turns prematurely allows for flexibility and strategic decision-making. Overall, Redaxium 2's turn-based combat system is a challenging yet rewarding aspect of the game.

The game rewards with Achievements Points to accelerate ways to advance easier.
These are awarded for completing/participating in variou aspects of the game.
Your free to strategize how to spend them.

One of other the things can be appreciated about Redaxium 2 is the attention to detail when it comes to the various factors that affect your character's performance.
Hunger, thirst, fatigue, anxiety, and adrenaline all play a role in the game, which makes it feel more realistic and adds to the overall challenge.

Combat in Redaxium 2 is both turn-based and external, with multiple enemies that can be fought at once.
Additionally, you can use special external weapons to inflict damage or gain an advantage prior to turn-based combat.
The night/day system is linked to survival stat effects, adding a new level of challenge to the game.

Redaxium 2 offers a variety of build-types, including melee, elemental, and weapon users, with many stats and attributes such as sight and stealth.
There are also skills for both roleplaying and battle, such as analyze, gambling, steal, and explosives.

The game also offers the ability to customize your character's name, picture, description, and age.
You can choose between hardcore mode, which invalidates your save if you die, or resurrection mode, which allows you to respawn without having to reload a save.

Like the first game you can also buy your own vehicle to ride around in. It still needs repair and refueling.

Additionally, you can recruit and customize companions and interact with most things using a handy interaction menu.
With 80+ random encounters, randomized mission provider, shopkeepers, innkeepers, bankers, and more, there is always something new and exciting to discover in this game.

One of the most noticeable improvements in Redaxium 2 is the upgraded game engine, resulting in better CPU performance.
Shadows and lighting have been significantly enhanced, which is particularly noticeable when playing the demo.
Additionally, shader enhancements have been added to make things look more realistic, such as character's bodies appearing smoother.

There are new trees and bushes, and other decorative touches to most areas.

Free Form Dialog has been added, allowing your character to have things to say about some of the locations you reach.
Advanced mining has also been added, and sound effects have been added to the Kamikaze units that chase you, making the game even more immersive.
Wrapping on the activity log text has been fixed, resulting in far fewer broken sentences.

The game currency has changed to the Gold/Silver/Copper standard, which offers more sensible ways to store money as items and understand the value of items.
Home/Guild Lots now exist to be purchased, offering benefits such as MP regen and hirable companions.
There are also now perishables that heal MP, and combat now has Metas, allowing you to do critical strikes.

In addition, there are many new creatures in the game, such as the Mutant Abominations that soar across the lands.
They are called the Glitched and are invulnerable and pass through things like ghosts.
The terrains now use a bump texture to give them a more realistic look, and many UI-re-alignment efforts have been made to ensure that things look right.

The npc taunts and comments have also been significantly expanded recently.

Last but not least there are significant additions of text you can find in lore stands across the game.

Overall there are a lot of differences and improvements in Redaxium 2 while keeping the good from Redaxium 1.

Crafted by the hands of a lone developer, this captivating and challenging experience takes inspiration from the likes of Fallout and Duck Nukem, yet boasts a unique identity all its own. In a testament to the human spirit of creativity and perseverance, the game's creator meticulously crafted every asset with unwavering dedication to their vision, standing as a reminder of our ability to shape worlds in the vast cosmic expanse that is our reality.

Venture forth into a realm embroiled in profound societal tensions between man, machine, and hybrid, and be captivated by a spellbinding narrative that delves into these intricate dynamics. The game's intricately crafted world offers a vast expanse of storylines to explore, featuring environmental storytelling that harkens back to the timeless CRPGs like Fallout. Players will unearth hidden lore and enigmas as they traverse deeper into the game's universe, imbuing the overall experience with a sense of profundity and intricacy. The game's unparalleled and vivid visuals, inspired by the iconic Duck Nukem, bestow upon the game a remarkable and unforgettable essence, one that echoes across the vast cosmic ocean, resonating with the small and fragile pale blue dot that we call home.

Consider for a moment this wondrous creation, birthed from the mind of just one developer. Its mechanics and systems, intricately woven together, form a tapestry of character growth and progress that is truly a sight to behold. Behold, too, the turn-based combat system, a thing of beauty and challenge that demands strategic foresight and cunning. And yet, even this is but a mere facet of the game's immersive and layered experience. For within it lies the power of Free Form Dialog and advanced mining, unlocking hidden depths and mysteries that beckon to be explored.

As you journey through this world, you will be treated to impromptu comedic moments and zaniness that will warm your heart and ignite your imagination, evocative of the whimsy of Duck Nukem. Such is the power of this game, that it transports you to a realm of entertainment and joy, a pale blue dot in the vast expanse of the gaming universe.

The Redaxium 2 game stands as a magnificent achievement that propels the open-world RPG genre to previously unattainable heights. Its diverse gameplay options and mechanics offer players an unparalleled level of immersion and engagement with the virtual world. It is evident that the developers' unwavering commitment and passion for their art have been channeled into every facet of the game, ranging from minute details to grandiose gameplay elements. As a result, Redaxium 2 stands as a shining exemplar of excellence within the realm of video gaming, and a testament to the immense creative potential of the human mind.

The game's designer has demonstrated a deep appreciation for the nuances of player engagement by incorporating a range of difficulty settings to cater to varying skill levels and preferences. In particular, the inclusion of a beginner mode thoughtfully accommodates those seeking a gentler entry into the game, while the exhilarating respawn system imbues a sense of daring by enabling revival at the cost of all accrued items. For those seeking a truly demanding experience, the hardcore mode offers an optimal challenge. Furthermore, the character customization feature represents an impressive manifestation of the game's versatility, affording players the opportunity to create an entirely unique avatar replete with personalized attributes, from appearance and name to age and biography.

Enter into a prodigious role-playing universe where an abundance of shops, inns, clinics, and other locales await your exploration. With a reputation system that influences your interactions with non-playable characters and factions, your decisions will carry significant consequences. Brace yourself for the turn-based combat system, which will take you through formidable environmental obstacles and automated turrets. Take heed of the game's armaments of lethal drones and other adversaries, for they raise the stakes and inject a thrilling component of peril and tension to your journey.

Map Travel is a remarkable tribute to the era of classic role-playing games, evoking the essence of such legends as Fallout 1 and 2. The game's expedient travel system stands out as a notable feature, offering players an exhilarating journey replete with unpredictable encounters and opportunities to uncover hidden treasures. The title's brilliance lies in its exquisite attention to detail, from the meticulously designed world-building to the thrilling revelations waiting at every twist and turn. Instead of the commonplace battles that typify other RPGs during travel, players have the opportunity to discover charming inns and friendly merchants, further enhancing the game's appeal. Overall, Map Travel is a gem of a game that is sure to captivate any aficionado of the role-playing genre.

Redaxium 2 offers a gripping narrative that immerses the player in a society plagued by social strife and an excessive dependence on technology. The game's tripartite challenges are not only thrilling but also stimulate contemplation. One must assuage divine sentiments through making sacrifices, tackle enigmatic mystery boxes that progressively diminish one's XP and wealth until their successful resolution, and prevent cultists' rituals from unleashing permanent harm. All these tasks are meticulously interwoven into the fabric of the game's storytelling and environment, culminating in an unforgettable experience for the player.

At the heart of the game lies its most distinctive feature: an ingenious countdown system that imbues the gameplay with a sense of urgency and pressure. The players are bound to fulfill God's demands on a regular basis, lest they face an untimely and gruesome demise. To persevere, players must locate a shrine and present offerings before the clock winds down. Moreover, the game's survival elements, including hunger, thirst, and fatigue, augment the intricacy and realism of the experience, rendering it an authentically captivating and stimulating odyssey.

The game's distinctive aim is to forestall the collapse of society and the perils of technological reliance, accomplished by identifying and sealing rifts in the space-time continuum dispersed throughout the game's milieu. These anomalies constitute a voyage in their own right, and players are supplied with a radar that assists them in detecting these enigmatic occurrences.

Designing an open-world RPG like Redaxium 2 presents a formidable challenge, fraught with potential obstacles such as feature creep and other complexities. Yet, the developer behind this remarkable game has shown remarkable grit and determination in surmounting these challenges and delivering a game that boasts an extraordinary array of features. The result is a truly immersive gaming experience that captivates players with its depth and intricacy.

The sprawling metropolis of Lagorigana in Redaxium 2 is a marvel of verticality, its towering structures creating a dynamic sense of space that is rarely seen in contemporary video games. Against this urban backdrop, players are presented with a rich tapestry of environments to explore and engage with, each offering a unique window into the game's richly layered narrative. The storyline deftly weaves together complex themes of societal tension and the perils of technological dependence, exploring the multifaceted relationships between humans, machines, and hybrids in a way that is both nuanced and thought-provoking. Through the game's expertly crafted plot points and conflicts, players are provided with an immersive and engaging experience that invites them to reflect on the ways in which technology shapes our world and our interactions with one another.

The character of Scroozeleah in Redaxium 2 is truly remarkable, for she epitomizes the concepts of strength and independence as she skillfully navigates the intricate drama between three distinct races. Her pivotal role in the game brings to light the complexities of hybridization, which is a fascinating and profound topic in the realm of science. Redaxium 2's unwavering dedication to the creation of multi-dimensional and authentic characters greatly enhances the immersive experience of the game, while also elevating the narrative and gameplay to unprecedented heights. Such a mastery of storytelling is a hallmark of human creativity and ingenuity, and serves as a testament to the boundless potential of the human mind.

The diligent endeavors of the developer in crafting Redaxium 2 are worthy of admiration. Overcoming sundry obstacles, they have achieved a laudable feat in bringing forth a captivating game that proffers a singular experience for avid gamers. Redaxium 2 eschews customary game design by placing great emphasis on environmental storytelling and by incorporating immersive gameplay mechanics. In this way, it transcends the traditional boundaries of gaming and leads players to an engrossing alternative realm. The game harnesses the potential of 3D gaming and the art of storytelling in a felicitous manner, resulting in a title that is as informative as it is entertaining, and thus, one that simply cannot be overlooked.

The manner in which Redaxium 2's visuals are presented may prove to be divisive, as the developer has attested. The game's aesthetics, influenced by a Doom 3 mod known as Duck Nukem, display an unmistakable flair. Although some observers may perceive the visuals as lacking, particularly given the complications that arose with the Unity engine, the game's minimalism is apposite to its genre, summoning forth a sense of vacuity and abandonment. In terms of object models, their rudimentary design may appear to have been constructed with little forethought, but this may be viewed as a reflection of the game's narrative, which is concerned with a despotic robot society. The character models, on the other hand, present a diametrically opposed impression: grotesque and deliberately unsightly. For those who have an appreciation for such unorthodox artistic expression, Redaxium 2 could potentially provide a worthwhile game experience.

The controls in Redaxium 2 hearken back to the classic era of computer role-playing games, utilizing a keyboard and mouse as the primary means of interaction. Despite the ostensibly cluttered appearance of the user interface, I appreciate its unique charm and find it preferable to the minimalist designs that are commonplace today. While one reviewer on Steam likened the gameplay to that of operating a nuclear submarine solo, I must disagree with such a characterization as a gross exaggeration. Redaxium 2 is a game that encourages players to forge their own paths and explore without the need for hand-holding. For those who relish the thrill of discovery and self-directed exploration, this game will undoubtedly pique their interest. Remarkably, for a game developed by a single individual, there are few technical issues to speak of, and the most recent update has further enhanced its stability.

In the realm of value, Redaxium 2 presents a fascinating case study. For a cost that is far less than the price of admission to a gaming convention, this game offers a truly captivating journey into a curious and unconventional universe. Whether one's interests lie in the exploration of exotic landscapes, the challenge of strategic combat, or the thrill of creative crafting, Redaxium 2 provides ample opportunities for hours of immersive gameplay. While the central quest can be accomplished in a mere eight hours, the intricate web of branching paths and diverse character builds ensures that this game will continue to reward repeat playthroughs. Moreover, for the intrepid explorer, Redaxium 2 harbors a trove of hidden treasures scattered throughout its desolate terrain, waiting to be uncovered by those with a keen eye and a curious mind. In short, while Redaxium 2 may not rise to the level of a theoretical breakthrough, it is certainly a singular and compelling experience that will stimulate the mind and delight the senses of anyone who craves intellectual adventure. So I encourage you, my fellow explorers of the unknown, to plunge into the enigmatic world of Redaxium 2 and discover for yourself the wonders that await within.

I'm not sure. If steam deck is debian/ubuntu based linux then it has an unofficial chance to work.
However steamdeck is the handheld device right?

Redaxium 1 & 2 use mouse and keyboard exclusively. While it has hotkey config,
there's no mouse movement solution.

It's been approx 3 years since Redaxium 1.

I'm trying to get back to working on the series but have to settle IRL things.

AI is almost good enough to make Redaxium great again.
