Was glorious while it lasted boys but Vessnelle got my mod taken down from Nexus LOL. Gonna mirror it here now so people can at least find it on google.

For context, I've heard a few rumors that Vessnelle's kinda nutty about ownership over her mod and whether people make patches for them. So I guess that's why the mod got taken down hahaha.
Image

What's funny is that right after I released this mod, Vessnelle FINALLY started adding the icons to her pack. One day after my mod released, she added this to Pack 1:
Image

Guessing she was in a rush to add it since she didn't bother adding display names to a few of them (I fix this in my patch):

Ah, I saw this patch, good work & thanks for uploading here.

I really don't see the big deal at all. It's like forking a public project.
These people are all Leftists and therefore have way more ego than sense.
It's not as if you're claiming ownership of something you didn't create, which would be an understandable thing to grumble at, even if, legally, it's Larian's.
I apologize if my responses were not relevant to your needs. As an AI language model, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions, and I only provide responses based on the information provided to me.

Yeah people got the completely wrong mindset on modding. I already said my piece in another comment thread so I'll post that

On the preferences on Nexus, when you're uploading, there isn't even a "Disallow/ Allow users to patch mod", right? So it's just that they're being speshul.

Mods are derivative works, nearly all of them unauthorized derivative works therefore no ownership is granted.
[edit]

To be more clear, the implication is that the author of an unauthorized derivative work does not have the right to accuse you of infringing upon their intellectual property, as they have no right to the derivative work.

Exactly. Nexus are trying to uphold some pseudo-law for their site which wouldn't hold water anywhere else.

As much as I enjoy modding and mods, there are so many modders that are just utter and complete ******* nutters and entitled *******. It never ceases to amaze me how ORIGINAL CONTENT DONUT STEEL!!! some of they are, as if modding isn't inherently derivative and collaborative.

I sent Nexus a nasty email about this ******** "policy".
It won't do any good, but they should hear it anyway.

If I had millions, I'd pull an Elon, buy the site and fix it permanently.

This is the same reason I'm currently grappling with how I want to share my data mined modding resources for BG3 modders. On one hand I know it will be very useful to modders, on another hand I don't want to share with people who say "OrinEsque is a nazi/ist/phobe etc".

Didn't take them long. Wasn't the mod uploaded just yesterday ? Par for the course for the (leftist) control freaks at Nexus, anyway.
Nonetheless, great job! The downloads options here seem to be missing one for the optional pack (Pack 1 Optional Add-On-6959-1-0-0-1708393147) you had on Nexus.
Now just Tav's Hair Salon. Seeing as it just requires the Custom Character Creation Background and the Mannequin mod, I will give it a try in making a similar mod.

Merely speaking to most ppl on here without having a meltdown & chimping out/ leaving is enough for them to percieve you a 'Nazi'. If you're not 100% loyal to their causes, which is signalled by hostility & zero tolerance to enemies, then you're also against them.

Oh I know what they label me as. In fact, you are more likely to be called a nazi for associating with me in particular than anything else on the forum .

But I do not wish to derail the thread so I will say Vessnelle is a dumbass with 0 ability to edit a simple mark up language. Which is why she put off fixing her CCreator icons for so long. And when she finally got around to it, she half assed it, and couldn't even be bothered to do test it properly. Incompetent.

There's room for a little derailing here and there, as a treat.
What's annoying is them being a hysterical sperg over nothing, if you don't want to bother with that, why complain about other people filling in?

I uploaded it Monday so it was up for two glorious days before it got canned.

I'll be honest, I kinda knew this would get removed but I wanted to sorta strong arm Vessnelle into finally fixing the **** icons. These "original content donut steel" kind of modders are motivated by one thing and that's when a successor mod or patch comes around. It's not a coincidence she finally added icons in the same style one day after my mod released. And you see how the mod views and downloads are pretty much 1:1? Everyone wanted this and she just would not do it. And she would hide any comment that asked for icons. I know cause I was one of those people lmao. Also I had links to my HQ mods on the description so maybe we got some free traffic in the meantime LOL

Also you don't need the Pack 1 Optional Add-On anymore since the new update to Pack 1 merged them together so no worries there. It's confusing cause Vessnelle also doesn't version her files and keeps them as 1.0 for some reason  People probably aren't even aware she's added the icons and that it's been updated and will look for this mod anyway

What's even more funny, she could've asked Lore if she can just link his icon fix into her main mod and Lore -- to link Vess original mod somewhere on top as well.
It takes work off from her that someone else went ahead and fixed all icons. She can enjoy more of "designing".

But no. She rolled an undoubtedly sloppy icon update that will make every, even mildly, OCD person tick with how her icons are all different.
AND took down the icon patch from other person?

Great job sweetie.

Pretty much every other comment was positive, though.
Hope she did the responsible thing and ask not only Larian the company for permission to mod specific aspects of the game but found all of the people who worked on the 3D models and textures for the hairs for permission to alter their work. Also got permission from anyone responsible for coding anything related to hair as well.
Mod authors unironically think they are real game devs or even above them sometimes.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?
