DICE UNLOCKER

I am not a big fan of corporate marketing tactics that locks away existing content that is literally already in the game files from players based on arbitrary and often unattainable restrictions/qualifiers. In BG3, one of the ways this materializes is through the special dies, all of which are actually in the game files already, but are locked away.

Currently, there are three special dies; Behir Blue, Illithid Purple, and Dragonflame Red. Scuffed Metal is the default dice, Behir Blue is suppose to have been unlocked for everyone on PC (Steam, GOG) in one of the recent patches, Dragonflame Red is from the "Deluxe Edition", and Illithid Purple is from the Collector's Edition. What this mod seeks to do is unlock these for everyone.

This is a somewhat experimental mod, but all I can say is "works on my machine". Unpatched versions may have issues, but it should work on any game that has unlocked Behir Blue. If anyone knows where any other special/locked-away content is located or have ideas on how it can be unlocked, leave a message and we'll see what we can do.

For installation, extract to the \AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods folder of the installation directory, same as any other mods. That's it. No further installation should be necessary, and it should in fact be impossible to configure with BG3ModManager.

I claim no ownership or credit of any of this, and encourage anyone to pick it apart as they see fit or include it in whatever.

Well there are plenty of other modlets that add new dies; it's actually fairly trivial to create new ones. But the entire idea of this one is just to unlock the ones that came with the game. ^^;

In what way? ^^; It's an extremely simple mod, it shouldn't be breaking unless Larian has gone specifically out of their way to break it somehow. All it does is collect the files that are already present in \Data\DiceSet01.pak, DiceSet02.pak, and DiceSet03.pak into a single .pak, and change the DLC check so that they all conform to the most inclusive set of unlock IDs (primarily Behir Blue, since everyone should have access to that).

If it exists in the game files, maybe, but if they do, they were likely added in "Patch #2", and I have not been able to procure a GOG version of that patch yet, so I haven't been able to try anything. ^^;

I'll take a look when I finally can, but I would not get my hopes up - I know that the other DLC files have information in them about PS5, but it is entirely possible that a theoretical "DiceSet04.pak" hasn't been distributed for the PC version. But if it has, it should be an easy fix.

Prismatic Spray does not seem to be in the PC data files, even at the latest patch. If they are, they are not added like the other dies.

Some patch seems to have broken them. What you can do is download the file and dump it into the /Data/ folder three times, and have the DiceUnlocker.pak replace DiceSet01.pak, DicePak02.pak, and DicePak03.pak. That way, if you unlock any one of the three special dies (not including Prismatic Spray, because that doesn't exist in the PC files it seems), all three will be unlocked.

With the release of "Patch 5" (Jesus Christ why is it so ******* hard for them to just use a sensible and accurate version number system?) it can be all but confirmed that there are two files missing from the PC version of the game. "Patch 5" added DiceSet06.pak, corresponding to the new dice set, "Golden Skin", which can be acquired by completing the game in Honor Mode.

This suggests that DiceSet04.pak and DiceSet05.pak would indeed correspond to Xanathar's Barter (XBOX) and Prismatic Spray (Playstation 5).

Unfortunately, this also means that unless anyone here knows a subset of multiple console plebs with the know-how to get files out from console "installations", it is impossible to liberate these two sets for the rest of the world. If anyone does know anyone that would be able to access them, encourage them to share it and send it to either me or ArunnyE (probably me, because ArunnyE is MIA ATM), and we'll make sure it gets added and the mod updated.

In lieu of that, just spread the word and hopefully someone will eventually share the file(s), at which point it should be trivial to add to the mod.

Not in here, i tried. Illithid purple is missing but i have metal, behir, flame and golden.

Works now. I deleted all the dice pak files from the main folder. Five dices are rolling on

It's working fine for me on Patch 6 and the latest hotfix. Try deleting all the Dice01, 02, etc paks from your game's Data folder (after backing them up obviously), they might be messing with it.

I tried deleting Diceset06 then all the other DiceSets and I still don't get the red or purple dice. The gold dice stay unlocked but the blue dice are gone (I lose the gold set when I remove the mod)

Edit: Never mind, I found a program called CreamAPI that found the DLC files in the game installation and activated them. So as far as the game is concerned I have the DLCs activated, no mod needed for the red and purple dice.
