Dragon Age Series
I think Veilguard would be better than Inquisition if I could mod it to remove the woke designs and re-enable the rivalmance you get if you don't save the city of your romance. I couldn't get any mods working in it at all, but I think the game would be largely grand if the brown companions were bleached. I think Inquisition was far worse tbh. Maybe I'm wrong and blinded by my sheer hatred of DAI.
I'm not logi, but Andromeda is a good game failed by tremendously bad companions, which is the issue with most RPGs tbh. Pillars of Eternity had the same issue. I bet the copy of Mass Effect (from the Russian publisher) is going to be the same, looking at how woke the companions look.rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 9th, 2026, 14:01I was going to ask how you thought Andromeda compared to Inquisitionlogincrash wrote: β June 9th, 2026, 13:59You know that I have.
What is this question even supposed to be?
Andromeda has great environment art and the shooting is okay if you don't use the equipment to snipe through walls or another exploit.
It is boring to essentially have one enemy type in the game. The idea for that race is a decent scifi antagonist idea. But like a Netflix series, you can't take what would have been a two-part Star Trek plot and stretch it out to fill an entire season/game and expect that to be enough.

i put like 300 hours into DA Inquisition. really enjoyed that game. Was very disappointed when I saw they finally went so woke with Veilguard that it was impossible to ignore anymore. Gameplay also looked downgraded as well, for what it's worth. I'd say DAI is my favorite in the DA series, though I also enjoyed Origins quite a bit.

Agreed completely, this more or less summarises the franchise as it stands.mercerxiv wrote: β June 21st, 2026, 09:41So TL;DR is: only DAO and maybe DAO:A matters for the purpose of discussing the franchise. Everything after DAO and most definitely after DAO:A can be considered a separate franchise altogether for all intents and purposes.
DAI was such a complete mess, much like Veilguard was told as a "lesson learned, a combination of what made the games great", DAI was also billed as a retvrn to form, but all it was in reality was a return to social and gender politics. You want to oggle the dwarven lass? Sorry bud, that's pedo behaviour, deemed by the ***** fat ****** David Gayder. You want Cassandra to not be a total ****? In fact, you want a real feminine and desirable looking romance option as a man? Wrong again, chud. You get a homosexual whose entire personality is daddy didn't approve of his arduous labour being wasted on a gay ****** ending the bloodline (an interesting side discussion by the writers on breaking legacy and denial that eugenics are indeed real in the creation of family, curious talking points to focus on), or a qunari bull. I suppose there's Josephine, but again, she's a mutt, ugly, and really sweaty for some bizarre reason. Nice voice though.
I joked to my friends when this game came out that they designed such terrible options for men that they practically begged you to play a female character. Not that their options were any better, but they at least got Blackwall, the only real masculine character in your group, albeit still suffering from the same writing disease. Cassandra, as a mirror, just blows. Stop including romance if this is the slop we're going to keep getting, it's wholly pointless and actually just pisses me off more. Bring back classical romance, give us a good example of the union of man and woman, remember when some old media actually encouraged us to seek normal relationships? Now it tells us to seek casual lust and shallow vibes.
Moving on from that nonsense, the rest of the game is just a chore. Closing rifts became a repetitive mindless task just to get more points to unlock new areas and other content. So much waiting, you could tell they didn't manage to get away from all the MMO mechanics. The only legitimately good quests that didn't bore me to death were the Main Quests, be it DLC or main game. I guess some of the side ones weren't terrible, but they lacked something Origins had. That personable touch. It felt completely off.
The environmental design in general was a huge improvement, however, as well as the soundscape and most music. Exploration was pleasant, some zones were far better than others, and they did at least provide various scattered loot/secrets around the place to reward your wanderlust. Combat was pretty mid, hardly tactical, and mostly revolved around nailing combos to do any real damage in higher difficulty.
Worldbuilding took an absolute nose dive into the abyss. Qunari are now the most progressive extremists on Thedas, they even got quirky names for ********. How nice. The Templars are all utterly useless and corrupted, the Chantry is culled, and it requires the BASED chungus reformists (who never do anything particularly extreme for being named an Inquisition and still doesn't come close to the stuff we could do in Origins) who can elect a PROUD bald ****** as the head of the Chantry. Vivienne is the most boring character I've ever seen exist in Dragon Age. Also too many female boss ******* in positions of authority and weak men. Even for the ending DLC, the leader of the Qunari war band is a woman, despite her having only a priesthood role in their society. Yes, I know the priesthood has power, but war is a mans business, I am certain Sten would agree they have no place on the frontlines. Sten would be weeping if he could see the absolute state of his people.
It's all so tiresome. I tried unfathomably hard to tell myself that I liked Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I can safely say I despise this wretched dog turd.

Frankly, it's impressive how much worse every subsequent game gets.
The cutscenes are locked to 30 FPS, if you can believe it.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
you can mod the cutscenes to unlock the framerate, in fact i think the mod itself was just an auto-exec batch file with some launch options.Tweed wrote: β June 22nd, 2026, 02:55logincrash wrote: β June 9th, 2026, 09:21Started Inquisition.

i also recommend the mod that eliminates the Power grind necessary, and the mod that makes War Table activities instant. Eliminates most of the grind in the game.

Dorian is top-tier DAI companion, with his faggotry being the only casting a huge shadow over that. Same with Vivienne and her being a ******. All of those issues are fixable with mods (even Vivienne's sheboonery, theoretically), but, yes, the romances were designed to be as unappealing to normal men as possible.
Overall, the whole of writing (both worldbuilding and character-wise) went into the gay Hollywood version of "mature" - nothing titillating for White men, but boss ******* and gay cocks everywhere. They got rid of sexy female armor, with Iron Bull commenting on it, and there's a single Desire Demon in the entire game and it's a man called Imshael.
Every Dragon Age game is a perfect illustration of the progressive worldview. DAO was just a tad beyond acceptable on social issues, DA2 still catered to men, DAI was insistent on being anti-male and adding ***** ****, and DAV is the massive crash and burn of the ideology because of how overconfident and yet totally ******** it all was.

Further additional detail: i also remember the mod author explaining how to change meshes around for said hair mod.
It was this way i changed aveline's hair and face to make her more feminine at the time (sadly this is also something i forgot how to do when i did my second run years later).

Or you're misremembering the whole thing and there's no bleached Vivienne mod.

Vivienne was the only good companion in DAI.
Mind you, I played it long before I was turned into a racist.

I think the writing in DA:I wasn't that bad. This may be somewhat controversial but I find something like Baldur's Gate 3 more offensively woke than DA:I, and I also think DA:I has better writing than BG3 as well even putting aside wokeness.Maledict wrote: β June 22nd, 2026, 15:01Vivienne was the only good companion in DAI.

I'm a big fan of the Frostbite engine's visuals. I'm a big graphics ***** in general, but anything that looks good and runs well I will give a lot of passes to... DA:I can look pretty ******* good if you turn it up to 4k and raise MSAA to 4x, but it will absolutely crush the framerate obviously, and even then it doesn't take care of all shimmering/aliasing because of what you're referencing.
PureDark has made DLSS mods for Beth games, GTA games, hell someone else even made a DLSS mod for Final Fantasy 15 which I never thought would happen since it has such a bad implementation of the original tech. BioWare is so forgotten no one will even bother... and that is what they deserve, tbh. I'm playing Skyrim right now with DLAA and it is a huge improvement over bethesda's TAA.

I've just hit the 69 hour mark. Still haven't done the third major mission. Mostly grinding.
I've been just farming for materials, killing dragons, crafting and micromanaging my party equipment with a podcast on in the background.
Inquisition is a better game than DA2, at least. The writing is worse than in DA2, though in a different way to how DA2 writing was worse than DAO's.

I don't like how she looks, I don't like how she talks, I don't like how she acts. Supposedly she's the most OP character if built correctly, but that means bringing her ugly face and insufferable personality with you. I genuinely don't get why one would want to bang Sera as a man. She's ugly (looks Dutch) and acts like a BPD Tumblr gendie.
