Seems good despite awful animation. I want a playtest.

Thanks, scammers!
You pollute everything so we need this kind of ********.

Looks promising. But also looks like UE5, so I doubt I could run it.

Thanks.
Took me a while to find where it was. Doesn't appear in notifications.
Here's the strange thing: now I have 3 invites.

Hi everyone, thank you very much for sharing our game Asterfel here!

Just to clarify, everyone should be able to get into the playtest by simply clicking Join The Playtest on the Steam page.
It's set to open at the moment, so you automatically get accepted.
Regardless, it's nice to see you guys using the invites feature.

We're very happy to receive your feedback here, in our Discord Server, or in the Steam Community.
This Alpha Playtest is meant to help us fix the most critical issues while we work on a more polished Demo for Gamescom.

PS: yes it's an Unreal Engine 5 game, so probably best to check the system requirements on Steam page, if in doubt.

I'm going to assume you meant this question as in: why did we choose UE5 for this project.

The way I see it as an Indie Dev you have two major choices:
Unreal or Unity.
Unreal -> you fight the engine the entire dev time to get the game to run at decent performance.
Unity -> you fight the engine the entire dev time to get the game to look decently good.

Ultimately you have to pick your battles, there is no engine I'm aware of to just have it all out of the box.
As a team we overall have more of a tech / Unreal background than an art background so from that perspective Unreal is the better battle to pick.
At the end of the day the engine is just a tool and we'll see how well we managed to use it by launch day.

PS: lots of love for Godot, CryEngine etc. but of course for a project of this size and duration it's a huge risk not to go with one of the major options.

Not to sound rude or anything, but the visuals look bad in that 13-minute gameplay video, despite UE5.
But if that's where you see the best chances of success for your project, who am I to tell you otherwise.
If the game is fun and runs good, visuals aren't that important anyway.

Good luck with your game.

Most visuals in all games look rough at that stage of development.
But I'm not covering for UE5; I legit hate that engine due to how natively mod-hostile it is, aside from the chronic optimization issues it has standard (unless the devs are pros, and also given the time and budget to do it).
If a UE5 game wants to encourage mods, they need to write code modules themselves to allow it natively, and they need to set up the game files in a different way as well (as I understand it).

Yeah if the publisher goes to the effort of creating an account on this site to post, then his game is definitely worth my attention.
