Finished the game after Outer Worlds 2.
Gameplay-wise it's what Dragon age 2 and Inquisition was to Dragon age Origins but with Pillars of Eternity games - not a good thing for RPG fans.
Story-wise it's a wasted potential. Epic story about the birth of a new immature and powerful God, your relationship with him and its possible implications for the world of PoE games which had an extensive thought-out lore is just a footnote in the main narrative about how colonialism is bad or something and rebellion against MC's Empire. And the game constantly tries to gaslight you into thinking that being part of the Empire is a bad thing or if you are note woke enough. Characters are the weakest part of the game. They all are just there to dump you some lore, give a quest or praise/chastise you for your actions and in a modern Microsoft game you all know for what actions you will be praised for.
I recall there being an ending where you side with the Empire. Is there not a single companion that supports that decision? What about NPCs?
No NPC supports the empire. That's one of the biggest mistakes Obsidian made with this game. Woke **** aside, every line of dialogue, every interaction, every choice, was designed around you being anti-Empire. This is ******* stupid considering you're not some random schmuck the Emperor sent there so if anything the dialogue should be more pro-Empire.
Also not to mention they did a story on colonialism AGIAN after the disaster that was trashfire. Obsidian deserves all their failures and I will forever curse them for ruining what could have been a solid IP.

Man, all I remember about the Pillars IP is the first town in POE, the one with the tree of dead people. And how cool it was that you could talk to the souls of the dead, how there was a epidemic of soulless children and how fleshed out the religious and magical aspects of the world were. It made for a memorable start. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't play much further

I have heard through the grapevine that the hand of Microsoft reached down and told them that supporting colonialism in any way was a No No.

They really can't separate fiction and reality. Depicting something is not supporting it.

Even in the 80s and 90s there were certain views that game developers would never allow a character to express. There's no major game where you can say women or certain real-life races are inferior. They just added to the verboten pile.

POE: Trashfire was where it became clear to me that all true talent had left the studio and it had become a cult of leftoid ******* instead.
Pillars of Eternity had several faults, but because of at least a few decent developers it had something interesting to examine and discuss intelligently.
Even their last game before that (Tyranny) though rife with early stupid woke problems, still had a core of competency examining ideas.
Trashfire was where the scales had clearly tipped. They were no longer capable of making a decent RPG. Everything subsequent is as bad or worse.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.
If you can.
