There were fair and dark skinned people though all seem to have white facial features. Hard to say with potato graphics.

I've been trying it.
It doesn't run well on my 2070super, even at medium settings. It's console 30fps sluggish.
Not unplayable, just kinda ****. And I can't afford a 50XX to replace it.

Just STARTING the game is badly-coded ****.
For example, double-clicking the icon, to ANY response showing that it is loading takes 20 seconds or more.
Then there are the unskippable loading screen videos.
After that, I need, for some unfathomable reason, to select one of four "profiles" before I can see the saves associated with them.
I didn't even know it HAD profiles until I restarted the game and went to load. New Game didn't even mention it was making one.

Also, it has some funny bugs, and a couple of annoying ones.
Funny bug: if you load in the old camp and people are sleeping, they're all spawned on their roofs and they have to walk off, jump down and go back to bed.
Stupid bug: if you save your game manually, you're supposed to be able to hit ESC to exit the interface but it doesn't work once you've saved and you have to click it with your mouse.

In general, the simulation is overcomplicated.
The buying and selling being weighted by several factors is annoying.
Especially stupid is if the vendor gets low on cash (ore) he starts making less advantageous trades for the player (charging more).
► Show Spoiler
And the lockpicking is interesting, but too complex for crappy locks in a prison colony. Laughably high-security.
It would be easier to kick or crowbar them open. And should be an option.

Gorn was always darker, but looked dusky like eastern slavs/one of the people north of the middle-east not like a jigaboo.

Yeah? Look at the description in the pic and say that again, honestly.
It's a prison colony. Everything is scarce and valuable except water, dirt, and rocks.
There may be a few extra today, but they won't last and the merchant will sell them for certain.

No he was always African. Are you confusing him with Diego? Though I think he is supposed to be Turk.

You can't even fault the studio for "diversifying" the cast... I mean I think they swapped some leaders to dark skin, because of course, but germany is the forefront of wokistanian the OG was already extremely "diverse"

Yeah it's buggy as **** and crashed regularly.

It's literally in the same "eurojank" state as the OG on 1.0. It's bad in that regard.

What do you mean?

The way NPC "live their lives" ?

These were definitely not cut, instead they were "verschlimmbessert" (improved in a way to make it worse) most of the things are implemented *as you would expect* in a reasonable simulation, everything is at worst the same level of detail but often there is vastly more. But that is a detriment to the actual gameplay.

For example:
People actually sleep when it's dark, hence you can't run into their hut to talk to them when it's night, all huts are "owned" by the NPC sleeping in it, they do not speak with you and drive you out.

You can't sleep in unowned beds, they wake you at midnight, which is horrible due to the fact that you basically can't see when it's dark.

So no, the NPC behaviour has been *strengthened* unquestionably so but at the cost of the players ability to interact with the World, so for me it's clearly a Toss up between realism vs. player agency.

Ah. Well you are somewhat right. No I can not confirm this directly.

The NPCs clearly react to stealing, a lot more reasonably so actually:

If you open a locked chest in a house undetected but are observed leaving a "owned" house with a locked chest NPCs will actually investigate if the lock has been broken, if it is they will alarm others and attack you, so you have to be a lot more sneaky about it.

That said this game is clearly a buggy mess and again, verschlimmbessert.

For example, in New Camp it is a stable that the NPCs do not help each other unless they are Mercs because how individualist the faction is supposed to be.
Here it's different, attack a Bandit, all (or those in range) attack with them.

*But* I managed to get Silas axe just fine, I cut him down, took the axe, got knocked out and Robbed and after that *no Reaction* from the NPCs at all (including Lee who handles reprations in New Camp)

After reaching the point where I can move into the Old camp castle, here for bringing Swamp weed as I am a novice, I could just attack Scar (And Bullit) even though I was warned that they are protected. Whilst this is identical to the OG it does not feel like it is intended.

It's a mixture of bugs, actual improvements and verschlimmbesserungen, I would say.

It's not such a Big deal. However what Is cool is NPCs reacting to actually do that in their Banter "He attacked a Ore-baron and Won, he is bad-***" (regarding Scar) or "You better watch out, the Peasents are under our protection, you got me?" In the New camp Bandit banter (because of Silas).

i'm no gothic expert and i can only answer based off my brief experience "performance testing / playing" this remake, and as far as i can tell all NPC behavior seems to be there. I get attacked by a house owner, if i take too long picking a lock eventually a guard comes by and attacks me. Guards have even attacked me because I decided to run around them and bump into them, like I like doing in GTA 5, and just like in that game the guard got angry at me for doing it.

i also led some adult scavengers to the guards for slaughter and it worked perfectly fine as well, with no glitches. However, the one glitch i've noticed is when loading into a game i will sometimes see npc's fall down and get up.

As for stealing in plain sight i don't know if it's working as intended or not, but i've been grabbing anything i can get my hands on as long as no one is looking, and so far no one has said anything. i have not tried selling it however. for example the blacksmith stuff, grabbed that. Blacksmith wasn't present at the moment, is now, seemingly no repercussions.

There seem to be many save glitches, it seems to be related to the data they actually store. Doors that were open are closed for example, not that I have encountered anything game-breaking regarding this but that is something I would Test as a QA. Like saving inside a locked room without lockpicks.

One thing this does is Mordrag and ... whatever the swamp dudes name is, travel to the two camps as you exploit those two for experience, after saving and loading the mobs they kill actually respawn.
