players are terrified of missing content in games, so you end up with "RPGs" that are just:
[LOCKPICK] I stealthily use my lockpick skill
[STRENGTH] I strengthily punch it open
[MAGIC] I use my magic to magic it open

it's one of the major reasons bg3 was so well received yet a lesson nobody will learn from it
Wat, BG3 also does that exactly. You mean you need to press a button in your chars ui instead of a prompt is better?
BG3 has tons of missable, exclusive, locked content

If memory serves, all you get in Gothic via lockpicking is some extra consumables and gold. There's no reason to add brute forcing and a magical unlocking spell so that every player opens every chest.

You can pick chests up there and store them in storage until you can open them. Then you dont need to backtrack or make notes where the chests are. And I am not a fan of backtracking either.

after a bit more playing it turns out it really is the shader compilation stutter that's the game's #1 flaw. Yes, it has some traversal stutter but it's not as bad as some other UE5 games. However, the experience is still diminished by shader compilation everywhere you go (the first time).

There is one cope: unlike traversal, at least shader compilation stutters CAN actually be addressed via patches. Probably won't happen but it could.

My problem is that I have no issue with the game requiring you to learn the lockpick skill in the game, ok that's fair BUT what are the alternatives for players that DON'T WANT TO INVEST INTO LOCKPICKING?
Not getting the locked up treasure
This is an appeal to ridicule fallacy, there must be other paths to pursue in an RPG, if your only path to success is still lockpicking but you made it harder you are only adding a forced requirement but fixing absolutely nothing, lockpicking keeps being the meta because there are no other alternatives to success.

If you respond with circular reasoning or other stupid fallacy I won't even respond back to you anymore.
You should not be able to do everything in a single playthrough. hth.

Tried the cracked fitgirl version even on lowest graphic settings with 30 frames and v-sync off my gtx 3070 was about to melt if I tried playing the remake for more than 5mins on linux.

Here it is, **** these ANTI-FUN game designers, not only the lock-picking sucks, sleeping in beds no longer always recovers your health all in the name of making the game more annoying, and I bet they destroyed the magic system and completely nerfed it.

I just can't understand policing people playthroughs in a single player game like this.

The main problem is also they provided no alternatives to lock-picking they just made investing into lock-picking mandatory now, this is really dumb, they didn't even change the game to make monster re-spawn so at the very least you could go outside to grind monsters... but HOW CAN YOU EVEN DO THAT IF SLEEPING DOESN'T RECOVER YOUR HEALTH and now has a stupid cooldown???

This game is bad designed and unironically it's worse than the original.

The Gothic Remake is anti fun - The lock-picking is an abomination and the game is WOKE and CENSORED

Unironically a good idea. I'd much prefer a game that let me come up with my own solution rather than being forced to follow what the devs think, who are very possibly gay and autistic.

So far it is fine, I changed it up this time and went to the New Camp first. Combat was fine, Drax did help me out a lot, while I was using the short bow he gave me, dialogue is pretty much 1:1 except new voice actors (The Namenloser Held still has his old voice actor who sounds younger than he does back then, which does soften some iconic dialogue and retorts for example his old "**** off/Verpiss dich!" was very angry/annoyed but now it is somewhat neutral.

It's not, watch my video, I explain why but in short:

The more obnoxious things about this DEMAKE that I have experienced or read about:

1. The lock-picking mini game (not the actual minigame but the way your lock picks die really quickly on a mini game that can require even 50 steps to solve)

2. Cooldown on health recovery while sleeping (meaning sleeping wont recover your health and mana all the time)

3. The "economy" NPC's will pay less and less for repeated items you sell to them and you can even start getting ZERO ores for these items

This changes add NOTHING but FRUSTRATION to the game, the original game wasn't like this.

I guess the remake does have its merits

Yes.

I was wrong, the effort is decent. The models are obviously **** though and some of the added quests are complete woke aids.

And it's a buggy mess ... but so is the OG.

But sadly it is actually pretty quite accurate, you can even use the same strats from the OG (like clearing Orc area (you can in fact not enter the Orc City) act 1 etc.)

I'm middle act 2 as of now, Swamp camp.

Hate to say that it is a good effort.

EDIT: I modded out the lockpicking mini-game, it's aids.
You can ride a scavenger, while I understand them not wanting fast run potions (because goofy) it feels like "everyone is special" DND and the monster AI completely breaks if you ride it.

I am enjoying myself thus far though, a lot of things have been modernized in a way that does not detract from the OG.

No he was always African. Are you confusing him with Diego? Though I think he is supposed to be Turk.

You can't even fault the studio for "diversifying" the cast... I mean I think they swapped some leaders to dark skin, because of course, but germany is the forefront of wokistanian the OG was already extremely "diverse"

If were so kind I would appreciate you going into the old camp since I would like to know if they added a old camp loyalist route.

There already were two camp quests that were not in the OG (And those were decent) so who knows.
