Because the story was better when it was about humans killing savage beastmenVal the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ June 5th, 2026, 23:05I do not understand what was the point of ending the GW2 story with Aurene going into hibernation for a future threat and promising to meet the Commander again and the plot hook of there being other worlds out there like the ones that the humans originally came from, only for us to instead drop that and go back into the past on Tyria.Taking place over a thousand years before the events of the original game, Guild Wars 3 is set in the Tyrian region of Orr

Im betting my *** on the line that this game is going to have some kind of human/charr conflict that will be stopped by black gay man and furry gay cat.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ June 5th, 2026, 23:09Because the story was better when it was about humans killing savage beastmen
I was checking some of the people that work there, all the women were affiliated to WOMEN IN GAMING organisation. I really hoped that NCsoft had some control over this project so it wouldn't be so ******* gay and souless but it seems no
The game has a variety of maps, beaches most of the time (especially the one you linked in tropical maps) have more vibrant colors to them. But it doesn't mean you can't find settings with more sinister vibes. Janthir Wilds and Secrets of the Obscure have pretty good maps that aren't bright vomits, the demon/Kriptis map is pretty good with the demon HQ being pretty much made of living flesh.
The lights in-game are too random and crappy, so you can have a good looking location but the lights are off, either too bright or too dark.

From the interview with IGN also Val what do you think about this , whole game awards showcase was a rush job just because NCsoft is on their back and forcing them to release in 2-3 years. That would explain why most things looked like UE5 store assets

If they do not like battle passes, then I have to wonder what is the monetization plan that they pitched to NCsoft and got the greenlight for. 2026 economics make box purchase profit margins too thin and risky for a production of this scale. A battle pass is a subscription that provides a revenue floor that you can rely on even during some dry content periods. Genshin is making at least $40 million every month on mobile alone even when there is no content update or new character to pull for because of the monthly $5 welkin moon + $10 battle pass. Even the smaller games like ZZZ with their smaller audience by the $15 monthly sub combo.mynameismortis wrote: ↑ Today, 15:10From the interview with IGN also Val what do you think about this , whole game awards showcase was a rush job just because NCsoft is on their back and forcing them to release in 2-3 years. We'll have to see what those big risks exactly entail. GW2 is already pretty different from the bait and switch retail WoW format in that there is not a sharp divide between your gameplay experience when you start out vs at "max level". You started the game getting kicked out of the tutorial instance and began wandering around the maps doing random events and jumping puzzles you ran into it, and 1,000+ hours later you are still running around maps doing events. Though the event design and experience got a lot better in the expansions. A lot of people would be down for more of that but with improved audiovisuals, and some design changes to prevent zergs stacking on top of a pin and causing a cacophony of incomprehensible VFX layering over each other. More meta event objectives where players have to split up into smaller groups and accomplish multiple things in different locations simultaneously.
If the GW3 announcement was a rush job to please NCsoft, then that's rather grim and makes me wonder if Colin is unable to recruit the right people and motivate his employees to work diligently. This project was being planned many years ago and entered production in 2022. 4+ years of work, only have a short announcement video that showcases zero gameplay or appealing audiovisuals that would make people want to play the game. Contrast that with the GW2 announcement trailer.
Another thing I am curious about is what's going to be the catch here. GW2 eventually transitioned into making the game extremely inconvenient to play so that you would have to buy services. Namely that your inventory fills up fast with containers that contain containers which contain containers which contain worthless equipment which has to be salvaged for scraps which are then sold on the auction house for pennies. As the devs accelerated the rate at which your inventory filled up with containers, they sold more bag slots (which were only for one character and not account wide, so if you played alts you had to buy all of those bag slots for your alts), bank space, and salvaging tools for the different tiers of equipment. By season 4, the inventory issue had become too severe and an increasing amount of your playtime was spent on inventory micromanagement as you would play for 3 hours and then have to stop and spend 30 minutes cleaning up.
