I'm not paying the ****** that ruined it the last time I played for a moldy copy of THJ.Xenich wrote: ↑ May 13th, 2026, 16:43EQ Legends might be right up your ally then.Tweed wrote: ↑ May 13th, 2026, 01:36I wish I did, but I don't. Yes, that's English.Kalarion wrote: ↑ May 15th, 2026, 04:51@rusty_shackleford @Stack of Turtles is this an actual language?

Slightly old-fashioned, you might say.
VAE VICTIS
Here's my translation, based on the meanings that seemed most likely, choosing etymologically related words where they are still current and noting where they aren't:Kalarion wrote: ↑ May 15th, 2026, 04:51@rusty_shackleford @Stack of Turtles is this an actual language?

In elder days he set us upon the trade ways, to bear the wagons and to break his foe 's might.
When his deeds were openly known , we went, so that our bond with him were ended.
But on the like day his way was turned , and all things after fled to another course.
Take first that thing you most desire, for no taking has might if the heart be untouched.
Seek not little things nor abandon good, but stretch your hand to treasure that you would hold for yourself.
This is the way of taking, set for him that choose to live thereby.

VAE VICTIS
New wave of beta invites went out, check emails!
Week-long open playtest starts tomorrow. The Beta will be turned off for the duration, so I'll be on. I have a shaman and shadow knight in open playtest but I kinda want to try out Monk or maybe Ranger or Archer.
The reworks themselves haven't shown up in beta yet, they'll start coming out in like a month or so I think. They've only released two design docs so far — Wizard and Spellblade — but I think both look intriguing (as someone who's never played either
).
Spellblade is moving away from very swingy reliance on proc streaks, to steady build-up of stacked proc effects that can be consumed for big effects or left in place to fulfill specific roles.

Wizard is staying largely focused on being the game's premier glass cannon. Some of the stuff promised for the rework (interesting summoned items, utility outside teleporting, spell research) has been delayed. Mana regain on killing blow was I thought a very cool mechanic that they've decided to just get rid of, disappointing. On the other hand they now have a unique, fully-fleshed incantation system that essentially lets them cast any offensive spell available to them using just five memory slots. I think that's rad as ****.

There are two other classes planned for the initial rollout, I don't know which. Hopefully Shadow Knight is one of them, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
