Wasn't Hawke originally supposed to be the cisquisitor?
Going to guess tumblr legbeards & gay men got angry they couldn't play as elves

No, Hawke's story was supposed to conclude with The Exalted March. Their plan for DA is that every sequel would have a new player character.

:scratch-pipe: I remember there were some weird euthanasia decisions in DA2. At least two with Anders' friend and Varric's brother
@Vergil did you stumble upon any others besides those?

I guess the one possible solution in the side quest with the half-elven Freddy Krueger might count as one.

Those are the only two that come to mind at the moment.

Started a Dragon Age 2 playthrough. The writing is already so bad. The "Sarcastic" dialogue options are peak reddit, but from a decade ago.
The UI is such soulless dogshit. The graphics somehow look flatter than in Origins.
Leandra (Hawke's mom) is such a ******* ****, holy ****.

Enemies spawn from the ceiling, there's maybe 3 enemy types total and everything is just a reskin(you'll notice it when you realize spiders are just archers with spider graphics), and you visit the same area with different doors open/closed 50 times

I know that it gets much worse.
I want to see just how bad it gets.
I think it's about time for another BioWare sequel induced breakdown.

Honestly, I think I prefer DA2 Anders to his Awakening version. He's like Alistair but dialed to 11. Way too quippy.

Yeah, those thoughts were going through my head when we were fighting skeletons raised by blood mages and Anders said "Don't tell me we're sending these fools back to the Circle!?"

I have played so much Dragon Age 2 this weekend that I can close my eyes and simulate a combat encounter with all the animations and sound effects. I can spawn in enemies and use abilities.
I can't even rotate an apple in my head with this degree of control.

Started up the DA2 DLCs. The Legacy DLC is a cool little dungeon crawl. The lore is all over the place and the darkspawn designs are dogshit, but it was kinda comfy.
The other DLC is starring Felicia Day. And, boy, let me tell you, her already frumpy face stretched and moulded to fit the ****** up alien elf features resulted in one of the most horrific-looking characters in the entire series. Yes, even including the Veilguard trooniggers.
Dragon Age 2: Tallis romance [Mark of the Assassin DLC]
Just look at this monstrosity.

She also can't speak properly. It's like if the stereotypical nerd voice was a woman who got hired to ******* do voice acting, of all things.

I imagine she was propped up by the establishment because they needed a gamer girl™ to push the idea that gaming was no longer a boys club. Wheaton and Day were the precursor to the Critical Role cast that act as gatekeepers for nerdom. As far as Felicia goes though I never got the appeal. She has the kind of voice that sounds like she's always on the verge of tears and her politics were always cringe especially the whole "I was afraid gamergaters were going to rape me" bit she wrote about in her book. I'll give her one small bit of credit though this scene from the guild always made me chuckle:

Finished my full immersion 100% playthrough of Dragon Age 2.
da2 insufferable ****** playthrough.jpg
Do not recommend. The game is pretty bad. The combat comes down to purely damage dealing, with status effects and crowd control being much less useful than in Origins. Also, enemies get total immunities distributed in a totally schizophrenic way. Enemies spawn from thin air in waves for no reason and in completely random numbers. There's like a dozen locations modeled - you visit the same cave system and the same mansion and the same warehouse over and over and over and over and over and over (you get it) again.
Now, some fart-huffing ******* might point out that all of it can be explained by the fact that it's Varric telling the story. Except the unreliable narrator bit is only ever utilized twice in the entire game - during the fake prologue and in one of Varric's personal quests. The rest of the dozens upon dozens of hours is played completely straight. So, that ******** doesn't excuse such heavy reuse of locations and ******** combat.
Now, regarding the story - the vast majority of characters are insufferable. The Grand Cleric of the Chantry is a dumb **** who does literally nothing the entire game while you sort out the mess.
Every mage without exception is a blood mage and/or betrays you. The devs chickened out and made Meredith (who's unironically 150% correct, by the way) into a raving lunatic who tries to kill you because of an evil McGuffin. And you don't even get the satisfaction of killing her yourself like you do with that ****** Orsino.

I am going to do a second playthrough, this time as a pro-Templar extremist mage. That'll be quite cathartic. At the very least DA2 gives you the freedom to choose, unlike most of the modern slop "games" made by communist ******** who can't even imagine letting the player disagree with their communist ****** worldview propaganda they push as "writing" in their "games."
