Japanese RPGs rating things with F thru S is better than the western RPG tendency to put arbitrary numbers on everything. I can get a good idea of what a 'C' is, but if you tell me something is just a '7' I don't know what that is. Is it a lot? What is it out of? What's the scale like?
Still less preferable to an actual textual description, but great for cramped space in a UI

I like how Trails does it where S is 100%/1.0x power, and then every S after that is an additional 20% power. So SS is 120%/1.2x craft damage, 5S is 240%/2.4x damage, etc.

I changed my laptop's thermal paste and can finally play abldur's gate 3 for extended periods of time without it catching fire. I named my Drow wizard Doktor Kurac (Dr. Penis).

Are there any good RTSs on Steam, preferably with online matchmaking? I've been watching Warcraft 3 (with classic graphics) videos and now I kinda wish I could play it, but I don't like other store fronts.

I haven't played multiplayer with them, but the various Command & Conquer games are on Steam, as is Tempest Rising.

If you're okay with non-Steam multiplayer, you could try https://www.openra.net/

Ran across an article from 1982 describing the early days of Sir-Tech and Wizardry https://softalkapple.com/content/exec-s ... g-top.html

Image
Carving a game empire out of a wilderness: left to right, Sir-tech president Fred Sirotek, Janice Woodhead, Robert Woodhead, Robert Sirotek, Jean Bromley, Peter Bresett, Lynn Dupree, Norman Sirotek, and Linda Sirotek.
What a bunch of dorks. Too bad game companies aren't exclusively staffed by people like this anymore.

I also wasn't aware of how Ian Currie had married into the family by going for the boss's daughter on the right there. Good for job security until the company went bust.

Need more RPGs where I can research enemies before I encounter them. Go to a library and look over a bunch of old scrolls.

It's boring when a game has a faction mechanic, but only one specific way to actually join any particular faction. Instead of just enlisting at the front desk like everyone else, my character has to undergo some convoluted quest that has them way stronger than the average conscript by its finale.
Is it possible to learn these moves?

Or scope them out from afar to see their routines, daily interactions, and potential weak spots.

Kingdom Come Deliverance devs are making a LotR game.

I wonder if they'll manage to make the story into more of a pozzed goyslop experience than the Shadow of Mordor games were.

Weird how there's a bunch of gaming peripherals and game dev corporate accounts front and center in the replies running fanfare to offset the skeptics :pipe-thinking: Very organic!

I'm playing New Vegas again after almost a decade, and I chose the perk to increase my damage against males considering most enemies are male. I wasn't aware of the implications.

iirc Sawyer actually commented on how many people didn't know what "confirmed bachelor" meant and were surprised by it

Confirmed Bachelor is considered a homosexual perk? Neither the name, the art nor the description gave any indication of that.
Confirmed Bachelor is a euphemism for a gay man. The icon art shows Vault Boy giving a massage to a naked Vault Boy with a heart floating over his head. I'm amazed that people look at that and sincerely come away thinking, "Hey, looks like a couple of bros just having a good time and giving a friendly massage."

The heart is only on the target so you could interpret this as you kill the gays
