Try it, but there's no gurantee you'll like it. It has aged poorly in some aspects.
Which aspects are those?

Demon was better because I prefer the stage select over the open world

@W1llus, the madlad actually pulled it off
https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/ ... shing-deal
Lords of the Fallen II will no longer be launching as an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC.

In a note to investors, CI Games explained it has finalized a separation agreement with Epic Games that releases the studio from a publishing deal it agreed with the Fortnite maker in June 2024.

As explained by CI Games back in 2024, the agreement granted Epic the exclusive distribution rights to Lords of the Fallen II on PC for the entire product lifecycle.

It's unclear why the agreement has been scrapped. Game Developer has reached out to CI Games for comment.

Lords of the Fallen II is currently slated to launch at some point in 2026 on console and PC platforms. The original title debuted in 2023 and had topped 2.5 million sales worldwide as of March 20, 2026.

That milestone resulted in Lords of the Fallen officially recouping its $80.45 million budget (including development and marketing) earlier this year.

"Reaching break-even is a significant milestone, ensuring financial stability alongside the recent capital raise, but we know there’s more to achieve," said CI Games co-founder and CEO Marek Tyminski at the time.

"The lessons learned and community feedback gathered over the past 2.5 years have been invaluable, and they continue to guide the development of Lords of the Fallen II."
Indeed. Big financial risk for them too. Part of their reasoning for taking the Epic deal was Epic would bare the majority of the financial burden in the event the game flopped again. Now it's all on them. Let's hope this means they have a good product and it's not all bravado.

Controls, combat complexity, and build options. The difficulty of dark souls is a lot less fun than future fromsoft, because you can't overcome a hard boss by being intrepid and finding all the alternate weapons or upgrades a la Elden Ring, or improving at the combat like in Bloodborne. The skill ceiling is not that high, and it compensates by killing you for the tiniest, pettiest mistakes.

My favorite thing about Fromsoft lore theorists is the few times the games give you a straight answer about something without fail the immediate response is to go "uhm actually" and proceed to go for an hour long tirade about how their head canon is in fact actual canon in the most pretentious way possible.

A lot of the "lore canon" is completely wrong and based on the poor translation, if you bring it up many of them will get angry. Expect them to imply English was the real first script because the VOs are in English.

If you do, disconnect from the Internet. Don't look up anything. Believe me, nobody is going to give you Dark Souls for the first time back. Don't rob yourself.

But do take screenshots and share your experience after. It's the only way for people like me to experience Dark Souls fresh again, and I would be curious to see what you liked and what you disliked.

Dark Souls II has notoriously bad english translation even compared to the other games. Elden Ring at least when it comes to voice acting is different because Miyazaki personally sat in the recording booth with a bunch of fromsoft suits and translators and micro managed the whole thing.

Let them have fun speculating thats what nerdom is about. I just find it nice that fromsoft doesnt force feed you all the lore via text and that you can miss most of it if you dont pay attention. Same like in real life, so much information is buried these days. Even if you can look most stuff up that wont help if you dont know for what to search and arent curious and dont question the sources and their bias.

Souls games that aren't just boss rush games would benefit from more negative space(areas without enemies.) Either for exploration purposes, or just to make the world feel lived in.

Funny you mention that. There's this game called Elden Ring which has exactly what you suggested. I suggest checking it out at some point.

It may be open world but it had areas explicitly for exploration purposes that also help make the world feel lived in. The closest we got to what you suggested in a prior non open world game in the fromsoft catalogue was bloodbornes yharnman residents you could interact with (they all hate you because you're a filthy foreigner) and sekiros enemy conversations you could eavesdrop on. I'm aware the former is an area full with enemies and the latter are actual enemies but still improvements are improvements.

Yea, that's what I mean. I enjoyed walking thru the demon's souls areas after I killed everything and just looking at stuff. It would have been nice to have a couple areas that were for something other than killing things.

I definitely agree its something I've wanted for a while. I'm pretty sure the og Demon's Souls to this day is the only game with npcs that can actually move while talking to you like in a normal rpg game....it may just be that one guy though from the starting area.

An Elden Ring player called Let Me Solo Her became famous for helping strangers beat Malenia.

His character wore almost nothing except a jar on his head.

After he killed her over 1,000 times, Bandai Namco sent him an actual sword.

They missed the mark by not sending him a RoB replica.

They should've sent him dirty loincloth, because he's a sucker who spent thousands of hours on this nonsense while giving Bandai Namco free publicity.

Another SGF trailer (and release date?) incoming.
