but i also remember users who tried to re-create changelings with Orin's skin (white skin with animated swirls) getting extremely butthurt because of some hardcore technical difficulties, although dunno what were those exactly
I’m aware she’s half-doppelganger, but I wanted to get all cool and edgy with a poetic name for subrace just to show off how unique she is and give a vanilla hint about her background without spoilers. If you feel it’s too much and I should just stick to "doppelganger," I’ll change it.

я понимаю что тут задействована техническая часть и что в прошлом сделать расу чейнджлинга было сложно, поэтому я не могу указывать что и как автору делать. лично я бы пошёл по пути создания чейнджлинга, но с уникальными описаниями как вариант (и сделать расу играбельной только для Орин и не для Тава)

i understand that a complex technical part is involved and that making a changeling race from scratch was proved difficult in the past, so i can't just tell the mod author what to do and what not. I'd personally choose path with making a changeling race but with unique descriptions (and making the race only avaliable for Orin and not Tav)

Doppelganger & Changeling are two completely different races as far as FR goes.
If your idea is to "hide" her race behind a flavourful and edgy text, then just leave it as Dreadborn.

interesting how BG3 in particular dictates that a changeling (in Orin's case) is an offspring of a human and a doppelganger, not strictly a feywild creature

Everything looks good so far, but I have a question. I noticed that various sounds seem to be hardcoded into the Root Template; for instance, Orin laughs when an attack misses her. Is there a way to bind a laugh to an ability attack in addition to the ability sounds or is that not possible?

So, new version. What's been added? A fuckton of stuff.

1. Orin has been rebuilt based on the boss template. No more ******* now!
2. No more DarkUrge Toggle. She's now the Dark Urge from the start with the Haunted One background.
3. Added all of Orin's passives, reworked the abilities, and changed the Deathbringer ability icons to the ones from Larian's toolkit. Also, they now work as "once per combat". If it turns out to be way too broken and OP, I'll nerf it. Added progression to the Unsettling Visage ability on level 5. It lasts for more rounds and also inflicts Daze.
4. Added underwear and camp clothes — Lae'zel's pants. If there are better options out there, I'm all ears.
5. Added an icon in the Origin selection. I didn't bother changing it in-game. It's now using original rendering method. But if there are suggestions/requests about this, then yeah...
6. Fixed the name bug.
7. The script now hands out abilities right from level one. But you'll still need to save and load the game to get them immediately.
8. Shapeshifting is available right away via the vanilla Mask of Many Faces passive.
9. False-Fleshed is a custom subrace i add for no reason. Actually, I wanted to use it as a base for progression, to attach and swap abilities via passive-containers, but it didn't get past level one, and it didn't work out with the Deathbringer abilities. Maybe somebody knows why, but I sure don't.

What needs to be done:
Polish up the subrace. Add a badass icon. Fix the drunk camera in the Origin selection.
Various other improvements, Quality of Life, Russian localization, and other wishlist stuff. Also need to decide which voice to pick for her (right now she's using a random voice from the game) and try to somehow add laughter when landing hits with abilities.

P.S. Feedback, requests, and suggestions are more than welcome!

There's no easy way to fix the sound issue since doesn't seem to be one to one mapping for abilities. if you notice the same spell will have different incantations. The Soundbanks have like a "group" of incantations/attack sounds that will load randomly. That is what I understood from going through SFX. they were insanely annoying btw.

Go to Stats editor,
You can create a new equipment set using orin's armour to replace starter equipment instead of just editing her Visuals.

You can also open Origins in the stat editor, find shadowheart and override her race and class.

considering the reason behind Durge's (now Orin's) presence on the nautiloid (aka stabbed and tadpolled by rival Bhaalspawn), perhaps use Lynia's Escapee garb for both armor and camp clothing? then let the player find in-game armors for own needs

No need to override origins if you already filled the row


You'll want to find orins armor root template.

Create new from selected

Name it something else. Give it a new description. Set its Stats to be the same as a starter item.

You'll want to find Equipment field for another origin character, create new from that, then simply edit the armor name to be the same as the newly minted armor root template.

also let's not forget about the forever issue with characters that are suppose to be secretive aren't secretive at all. like Shart's problem with wearing Shar symbol on her armor and tent, Astarion's unexplained bite scars, so is Orin wearing her kinky lobster armor from the beginning lol (i'd remove her hair accessories too for better immersion, but it can be difficult i suppose)

She's very obviously orin.. i don't see why outfit needs removing. The illithids also intended for you all to keep your outfits on. So you could be True Souls that blend in with your part of the society. That escaped nautiloid outfit makes no sense to me. When doppleganger's transform they also take on your outfits. So even more reason to keep her looks intact.

Not before my first playthrough of this mod, a balance fix if needed, and coming up with ideas on how to change the plot, and not before I assess my capabilities and understand HOW to implement it. Any help/advice would be very welcome. For now, just settle for any original Orin replacer (it won't affect the mod) and roleplay her as a changeling impostor.

ну что ж, играется как обычный ТС, пока что не совместим с модом Линиары конечно, но работает вроде нормально. только два момента:
1. интересный случай с не-ванильной бронёй и одеждой. она использует BT1 (я полагаю?), но при этом одна броня сидит на ней как положено, а у другой проступают "голые" участки, при чем в абсолютно разных местах и абсолютно индивидуально, что вижу в первый раз
2. тот самый проблемный шов на стыке шеи и груди у моддеров, что с броней, что без неё

That's a vanilla model bug. I doubt I can do anything about it, but I'll look into it.

Also, what do you guys think about unlocking Orin's hairstyles so she can get rid of her yee-yee *** haircut?

Pros: She’ll be able to use any hairstyle available to human females.

Cons: It opens up the face editor and other ******** that can't be hidden separately (or I just don't know how).

Actually, forget about "I doubt I'll do anything about it." I did it. Now all human clothing and armour will display correctly, whether it's modded or vanilla. I verified this on SH's most bugged outfit. This bug will be fixed in the next update. But I need to clean up the game files a bit. A lot of junk has piled up.

He's back! He's now black... and he's Boss!

What was fixed:
The "drunk camera" bug in character creation.

The bug causing armor and clothing to display incorrectly. Now, all armor and clothing both modded and vanilla should display properly. Test this!

What was added:
Full customization for Orin's hair and even eyes is now available (sort of. they’ll still be white, but with different tints). Just don't touch the head!

A cool new icon for the subrace.
