Wuchang studio shut down because of a mass boycott/rating bomb from Chinese. You play as Qing(manchu) and fight Ming(han)
Yes, it's that petty. They had to delist it in China within a couple days or something.
Would be like having to delist a game where you play as Vikings invading England because Americans are review bombing it.
[edit] it's actually bizarre how little articles mention this but if you look at comments it's easy to find. As if they were told to not write about it.
Chinese players seem to successfully boycott a lot of devs. Why? How? I will never forgive the chinese
Sounds based to me, I wish westerners had the balls to stand up against devs faggotry like that. ****** go overboard with it and seethe about dumbass **** but at least the spirit is there
Reviewbombing a singleplayer indie roguelike because you dislike a few of the recent balance changes. Your "based chinkian spirit", sir.

Good. **** devs who banalce the **** out of single-player games. I hope it craters their sales.
voices38 cracked chingchong ****** myth so I thought I'd try it. I just ran into something I'm not realistically supposed to fight yet and alt+f4'ed when it killed me with ********. I've beaten Demon's Souls, DS 1&2, some of DS3 and Elden Ring, but I think I'm just done with the genre. It's all been downhill since Demon's Souls anyway.
Seems like the devs of Lords of the Fallen 2 asked TheBackgroundNPC if she would like to partner up and design some female centric sets. We need more devs like this...

Feels strange being beaten to the punch on this one. I won't lie I'm not familiar with this eceleb they used as a consultant and I'm torn on these armor sets. Primarily because I feel like complaining about them will sound really gay like "what do you mean you don't like the scantily clad women that look like they were ripped out of a porn game?". Idk I'm not feeling any of these armors compared to everything else I've seen so far which is inspired. These honestly look like they were concepted by ai (I'm aware actual artists made these) but they're just so generic compared to the enemies and male armor sets. To me it really seems like a massive over correction which is something I was concerned about since the very beginning.
It has the same asian-gooner aesthetic that I hate nearly as much as the ugly-western aesthetic. Why do we have to oscillate between these two positions?

She is designed to feel like someone who shows up to pass a sentence on you. You see her, you understand the design, and you instantly know what role she plays in this world, which is exactly what good character design is supposed to do. Without a single line of dialogue, you already know everything you need to know

That one looks a little like a female Severian. If the design's for an executioner, it almost works, but I'd say lose the hair and go for a Sisters Repentia, and you can't really improve on capcom's female fighter designs. Take pointers from their old artist, unless going for realism.

The dominatrix thing is intentional. That was mentioned in one of their dev logs a long time ago.
In the devs own words regarding the new armors and some of their inspirations.
It was an absolute pleasure co-creating our 5 new female-focused armours alongside our art team and @BGroundNPC
Before gaming, I worked in women's fashion - fashion being another of my lifelong passions. I've always loved the dramatic, theatrical, dark romantic designs of Alexander McQueen, Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, among others - a strong influence on these armour sets.
We also wanted to capture the bold energy of 80s/90s fantasy - franchises such as Conan, Red Sonja, Excalibur - with their mystical, mist-shrouded sword-and-sorcery worlds.
Can’t wait to see players wearing them in-game - alongside plenty of other armour options to suit every style.
I tried playing black myth wukong thinking it was an action game but it turns out to be soulslop
Call me a coward but I don't like losing in video games, especially multiple times to the same enemy or encounter, it just makes me quit the game.
Wukong surely seemed designed arround that. At least fromsoft games give you plenty of tools/spells or stuff like Magrids shackle to cheese some bosses at least. And you can farm more healing flasks and things like that to make progression and preperation feel worthwhile. Makes quite a difference what your weapon upgrade level is especially early game. And eldenring especially made most bosses a joke if you use these summons like the mimic tear.
Also when it comes to lords of the fallen 2 I am more interested in the enemy design but from what I have heard its an epic exclusive anyway will have to wait on a high seas version.

I also don't like fromsoft games because all those tools you described are only obtainable from knowledge gained through multiple playthroughs or just people searching up on the internet on how to cheese the game, I wanna play the game without searching up what to do and if I can't do that I'll also just quit.

Should be doable without a guide in dark souls 2 and 3. Eldenring has plenty of npcs you could miss or you dont find the right medaillion halfs for access to the haligtree maybe but despite that most bosses can also be done in 5 tries if you grind a few levels and have enough healing flasks. And those you dont really have to look up since they are all very visible via the small glowing earth trees or the tears you can find in churches for that other flask.
Most stuff you can miss out on are optional bosses. Like the 2nd hydra and the stonedragon covernant in ds1 if you arent hitting suspicious walls. And maybe the 10 extra estrus flasks if you dont go in the catacombs early in ds1 but you can always go there if you still remember that place wasnt explored yet but I assume most people would just forget it if they are already in sens fortress or anor londo.

I fine this to be a strange sentiment even though it's quite common. The notion that <thing> that's hidden or you would only know about if you either already beat the game or read guides is required for enjoyment is preposterous. Knowing about the drake sword, or the fire keeper soul in new londo you can grab right away, or rushing the rite of kindling and gravelord sword, or any number of powerful tools you can nab early has no impact on someone's ability to complete the game. None of these games are hard enough to require cheesing or outside knowledge. If anything, it's good that there are reasons to replay the game and ditto for the game rewarding returning players' knowledge. It's really that we're once again lamenting how freely and rapidly proliferated information on the Internet ruins much of the mystique. I'm not throwing shade at you or anything, this is just a bone I have to pick.

I'm not smart enough to explain why these games are unplayable to me but I'll try my best, for me it's a design philosophy issue. Most games are made with a "win until you lose" mindset where you can just play and enjoy the game mostly without dying but these games are the opposite with a "lose until you win" design.
I've been thinking why I don't like these types of games and this answer came to me when I was an in elevator at work, they just don't feel satisfying or enjoyable to me. Trying to convince me otherwise won't help as I did try most of them and found them boring.

I don't like that they're 98% the same activity, I just get bored by it.
Flasks that refill at bonfires was the first step towards turning the games into a boss rush genre.
I don't know how to fix the monotony of having to redo a level because you died. I don't think bonfires are a good replacement.

Dont do boss tries if you are shortly before a level up. Then rush to the boss with no xp and ignore the monsters otw. And in later titles they often just place a bonfire directly before the boss already. And demon souls had the ring which put your hp to 75% that you could stay hollow the whole time. I think ds1 and ds2 had something similar too. You could try again and again just with a little disadvantage to hp usually not lose anything except time.
I found bloodborne more annoying since you had to farm or buy blood vials to heal and they didnt recharge.
