I'm reading the update on kickstarter, and it's insane (in a bad way). Holy scope-creep batman.

While I'm not in a position to donate to the KS, I am genuinely curious to see how development goes. I feel like most KS sequels I've donated to or followed, whether direct sequels or spiritual successors, tend to talk big only to sputter and limp their way to an oft-delayed EA release.

Then again, maybe I'm just jaded from playing so many "alpha" builds of games that are still years away from a feature-complete release.

The base game is funded which is good. The funding period is halfway through so I guess it'll probably get to 100k which covers the goals that I like (metro expansion also looks cool but it's unrealistic to reach this one).

It's no longer a Fallout1-2 clone. It's over.

devs are now trying to weasel their way out of admitting that it's no longer a birds-eye turn based rpg.

Looks like I made the right call to abandon Atom Team after not liking the first one and putting all my eggs in the Avaria kickstarter basket.

This is basically a bait and switch with the kickstarter.

Styg won. I kneel.

I can confirm there's currently no turn based combat. They've basically decided to make Fallout 3

Told you that they are unoriginal, derivative *******.
Didn't expect it to be this bad though, the trailer shows promising turn-based combat at first, and then it degenerates into the sloppiest Metro-Stalker-nuFallout rip-off possible along with the gifs.

Btw what about Swordhaven? The 1.1 update aka the actual full release is coming on May 7. Looks like it's finally the time to make a playthrough.

It's advertising combat that was already removed.

Their xitter page still shows turn based combat while their kickstarter page shows nuFallout esque shooter. It looks like they are asking money when they can't even make sure what they are going to do.
Well that sounds just like Zelenskyy. :D

I doubt they'll make any "stretch" goal

Maybe that's why they want to experiment with the base game. Well, nothing concrete have been said about this format change, perhaps they'll clarify what's their vision after their kickstarter ends. I hope they don't want to pull Fallout 3 again.

Designers playing new games and suddenly wanting to completely change the game they're working on happens more often than you'd think. Wonder if this might even end up killing the kickstarter with refunds

What a disaster. They could do that in the new game series, not in the existing title with the established gameplay style.

Maybe it'll be okay?
They did pretty good with their previous titles.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
But I expect nothing.

There's the problem. Disagreement would be met with death threats, attempted cancellation, and a permanent ban from the server, all orchestrated by the gremlins who think they have some semblance of power over how the game's produce.
