There are only a very small handful of WoW armors that have additional assets on them like sash models, like the League of Explorer's shirt from Dragonflight. Otherwise, WoW models are just a texture/shirt pasted onto the body of the character, and then maybe a 3D chestplate, and that's it.LemonDemonGirl wrote: ↑ April 24th, 2026, 22:50WoW needs this ****Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ April 24th, 2026, 18:22You can turn off assets such as pauldrons, belts, sashes, scarves, sleeves, etc.

What is there to turn off here? The only thing on his chest is the shirt and the 3D plate. You can turn off the 3D plate, and you are just left with the texture on his body.

WoW still has FF14 beat in terms of customization because there you do not have chestpieces/shoulderpads/belts/cloaks all in one item. You can mix and match different chestpieces, shoulders, cloaks, and belts. So far there has been indication that you will be able to mix and match assets from different chest armors in FF14.

The work required to implement this is much higher than you'd think, FFXIV puts a ton of time into these details because such a significant portion of their playerbase are RPersLemonDemonGirl wrote: ↑ April 24th, 2026, 22:50WoW needs this ****Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ April 24th, 2026, 18:22You can turn off assets such as pauldrons, belts, sashes, scarves, sleeves, etc.

Final Fantasy XIV - patch 7.5
Hrmmm...
► Show Spoiler
Let me get this straight. Yoshi-P showed off of the Beastmaster job in the 7.5 livestream last week, but it's not arriving in 7.5 today and is instead not coming until the next patch in September!?!?
Coming back to FF14 and having to party with the Scions for the umpteenth time after their story ended five years ago reminds me how spoiled I am by the latest Trails games, even the Kuro games. It's not that much of a thing in the first game, but in Kuro 2 and Kai you are most certainly not condemned to only use the Arkride party. You are constantly running into other characters and groups and get to use them if you want. Elaine, Kincaid, Zin, Jolda, Renne, Heiyue, Ouroboros, Marduk, Ikaruga, etc. Marchen Garten lets you run around with a fully party of non-Arkride characters. I should have put that in as a plus in my reviews. Actually not even a Kuro thing but is something that got started with the later Trails of Cold Steel games. Trails did have a similar issue to FF14 with Crossbell where you are condemned to only use the lackluster SSS party members.
Realistically, could SOLDIER be a class? I feel like that's the kind of clapbait a dying game needs.
Yes, but only for SOLO play and only available LEVEL 1-26 and only playable between 1:00-5:00 (AM or PM). Also, it was delayed until patch 2 of the expansion.Sinfield wrote: ↑ May 8th, 2026, 13:30Realistically, could SOLDIER be a class? I feel like that's the kind of clapbait a dying game needs.
Unlikely. Yoshida said during the Endwalker reveal that they would prefer to only do FF14 original jobs from then on, and he reiterated it at Fanfest for the Evercold. In Endwalker we had Sage (uses UC Gundam fin funnels to perform surgery and laser enemies) and Reaper (Garlean farmers who wield magitek scythes and made a pact with Voidsent). In Dawntrail we had Viper (Kirito anime dual wielding swordsman who dashes) and Pictomancer (uses magically infused paint to manifest ideas as attacks). Only Pictomancer was a job that existed in this franchise previously.Sinfield wrote: ↑ May 8th, 2026, 13:30Realistically, could SOLDIER be a class? - SOLDIER wouldn't really make sense as a distinct job in FF14's setting. What makes a SOLDIER unique in FF7's setting is that most people there are ordinary people incapable of casting magick or superhuman speed, etc. SOLDIERs are people bathed infused with mako (magick), and use condensed orbs of magic called materia. So they can cast spells and move super fast.
- But in FF14, it is already baseline for everyone (except Garleans) to be able to cast magic on their own. All of the crafting and gatherer jobs involve using magick to make a cake or craft a stool. Anyone can attune to an aetheryte and teleport to it. Etc.
- Most of the jobs already use equipment to further bolster their magic or superpowers. Samurai sheathes are infused with magick, so samurai sheathe their swords to further charge up the blade with magick before performing an iajutsu. Sages uses their nouliths as focui for their magic. Etc. And we already have a class aesthetically very similar to SOLDIER, with the Gunbreaker class based on Squall, which uses a revolver gunblade with magical powder cartridges to create shields or to dash super fast.
- You then get into the issue of the weapon. FF14 has every job use one weapon and tries to avoid overlap. We already have a greatsword wielding class with Dark Knight, and a katana wielding class with Samurai. Those are two most prominent weapons used by SOLDIERs in FF7. Otherwise you are looking at the guns that Shinra mooks use, but Machinist already uses guns (albeit one handed pistols instead of two handed rifles).
People have been suspecting that - going by weapons that current FF14 jobs don't use - that we would be getting a hammer wielding job (green mage?), some sort of throwing weapon job (be it throwing axes, blitzballs, throwing grenades, etc), a gunshield job (now teased by Yoshida at Evercold where he wore a shirt of Rhitahtyn), maybe a one handed spear + shield combo job, etc.

It is baffling that we don't have a druid/shapeshifter class, though I would prefer to see it done in the imaginative Final Fantasy style than a simple animal transformation. GBF has a character who is an alchemic creation and can shapeshift into different forms, including a tank/bodyguard form as gellatinous blob that can absorb incoming force for the wheelchair girl he protects. Maybe FF14 could do that but have the character drink different potions to transform into different states.

I don't like animal forms because I don't like seeing animals get hurt.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ May 8th, 2026, 20:17It is baffling that we don't have a druid/shapeshifter class, though I would prefer to see it done in the imaginative Final Fantasy style than a simple animal transformation. I wonder if they'd be able to do a proper Necromancer, or does Reaper already fill that niche?
I hate the Antichrist!
FF14 Reaper's voidsent is not an actual unit on the field like pre Endwalker summoner rework Egis were. It is just a model that appears behind your character for a second for a few of your empowered scythe swings.LemonDemonGirl wrote: ↑ May 9th, 2026, 10:45I wonder if they'd be able to do a proper Necromancer, or does Reaper already fill that niche?
The abysmal netcode of the game makes allied units really janky to play around with. Old summoner Egis were condsantly lagging behind, and you can it happening in the livestream where Yoshida showed off beastmaster. Trust NPC party members have severe movement constraints that hamstrings fight and environment design. When adding trusts for ARR through Stormblood dungeons, the dungeons and fights were redesigned to accomodate trusts. The swimming through water segment in Sui no Sato wad removed because trusts can't swim. Boss mechanics. Etc. Summoner was reworked in Endwalker with their on field pets removed and replaced by untargetable models that jump in and out for two seconds. There are harfly any quests in the game where you can have an NPC follow you around in the open world, usually only in the city maps where there are no mobs. Etc.
The game has just been trending away from and avoiding allied units. I don't see how a traditional necromancer archetype could work unless the skeletons were not actual units but just spell animations, which is probably not what people would want. WoW however had just very recently converted Unholy DK's Army of the Desd summons (the lesser ghouls) from being units everyone could see to being client side only (seen only bt the DK player) animations. There has not been mass outcry about that.
A GM has permaed Xeno, claiming he was being aggressive outside of the game (possibly referring to Xeno calling out the dangerhairs Kate and Sena?). Crazy world we live in now. It's not enough to just not use the ingame chat or official forums anymore. Dangerhairs will ban you for stuff you say on twitter/youtube/discords.

I keep a low profile on other platforms on the assumption that I can still access the content they provide. Steam, Twitch, Facebook, online video games, etc. Twitch already has "bad behavior outside the platform" clauses to their ToS, and I thought them lunatics for it but it seems this **** is getting normalized? This reminds me how few days ago the biggest hoi4 streamer bokoen1(******** eurocuck i believe he even has kiwifarms thread about him) got permabanned on twitch because, he said that Allies during WWII should have, instead of doing Yalta drop all the bombs in Russia(drop on every big city and glass them). So he got perma-banned, moved to Kick, and they offered him big money, but he will still enforce Twitch's TOS. People like him normalise this **** and will not stopValter wrote: ↑ May 21st, 2026, 23:02I keep a low profile on other platforms on the assumption that I can still access the content they provide.
