Game Sales & Freebies
Starving to death cuts short your lifetime. Comfort is also a factor that needs to be "met", hence why I collect a bunch of things I like.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ April 16th, 2026, 13:10If time is the most important currency then why do people trade it for money?Rienen wrote: ↑ April 16th, 2026, 13:04Sorry to get philosophical on you, but our most important currency is time (which I'm almost certain you know). So, while these games might be free, money-wise, they're costing us time. I'll still claim most of these free offerings, but the truth is, the vast majority are slop I'll never think of again, let alone install and play with any significance.Algol wrote: ↑ April 16th, 2026, 00:20Almost nothing good gets released on Steam for free. This thread is educating me on that.
But get enough money and the relationship goes in reverse. You'll gladly pay for convenience and efficiency when you realize everyone wants access or to waste your time.
You can have enough money to be content, but you'll always want more time.
Great, but you're making an argument in favor of not touching any of the aforementioned shovelware. I might lose a tenth of a second when I search my library for a real game and get hit with shovelware results. Now the game isn't as free, huh?Rienen wrote: ↑ April 16th, 2026, 13:04Sorry to get philosophical on you, but our most important currency is time (which I'm almost certain you know). It's like Brave's tracker that tells you how much time you saved not looking at ads. Having trouble running an old Windows game?
Rusty's Stuff Collection
Romancing SaGa 2
Romancing SaGa 3
SaGa Frontier Remastered
SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS
There are a few posts on Steam mentioning people having trouble getting their gamepads to work with these games. If gamepad support is an of interest, GOG has mentioned in there "GOG Preservation Program" changelog that they've patched it to fix the controller support, so that version may be easier to setup if you don't want to mess around with it yourself.

Robbo
Tile based puzzle game.
Another tile based puzzle game.
A boulder pushing, heart collecting, puzzle game.
A maze based run and gun. More of a puzzle game, but that doesn't mean you won't need fast reflexes.
This one's a remake of an old Amiga first person shooter.
It is a 3D train driving simulation.
Of the set I've played, Heartlight and a version of Electro Man called Electro Body back when they were shareware, both weren't bad.

The goal is to navigate your robocop looking character through a maze and grab key cards while balancing acquired energy to keep your weapon operating.
Although the maze design wasn't bad back when I played it, I do remember it lacking obstacle variety. Still, there is a decent amount of challange to be had from this one. All the enemies and traps kill in one hit, but fortunately you've got infinite lives and will respawn at the last checkpoint you've activated.
Oddly there is no ingame background music during each level. Instead the original full version came with a cassette that was intended to be played while running the game. Sadly I don't think that soundtrack has been included in this release.
As for Heartlight, from what I recall the puzzles were thought out well enough.
It's one of those Boulder Dash style games where boulders will fall vertically if there is space beneath them, and you can dig out any dirt tile by moving your character onto it to provide space for an object to fall. The goal is to snag all the hearts without accidently destroying them with a boulder or bomb.

This asset flip is a meme game or a student game from "game developer" courses. Judging by the publisher and it's games, probably second.

I'll take the developer's word for it, best not to know...

I hope that the student gets an "F" for "***" god ****.
Also, look at all the other games that the "publisher" has released. ******* trash. Pure trash.
