Ignoring a Forum / Opt-In Forums

You can opt out of being able to view a forum, or opt into being able to view certain forums(subject to minimum post count) by joining the correct opt-out or opt-in group. These groups are open registration, and you may enter or leave them at will. You can find the groups options in your User Control Panel, here:

Upon joining an opt-out group, you will no longer be able to participate in or view discussions in the forum you opted out of.

FYI if there's a forum you want to ignore but there is no opt-out for it, just ask and I'll add it.

2. Click on the button on the forum thread page that says, "Ignore forum."
2a. Get prompted, "Are you sure you want to ignore $FORUM?"
2b. Click "Yes."
3. You're kicked back to the home page and none of the posts appear on the home page and your notifications.

You should have one big "ignore forum" button on the home page that permanently redirects your IP somewhere

I mean the minimum posts required is kinda cool for stuff like politics but, I dont know. It's kinda weird to have to re-optin as an old user. Guess it's easier to program that way.

Adding a layer of friction between accessing the politics section might help some people get rid of politicsbrain that makes them miserable.
I, for example, stopped using twitter completely and chose to stop caring about the ******** Israel/Iran nonsense and my stress levels dropped dramatically.
Perhaps this opting-out thing will help some users get back into vidya and relax.

Same process as presented in the OP, but instead of Join Selected, change it to Resign

Perhaps to make them more easily visible the Opt-In commands should be in a separate list from the Opt-Out ones?

If nobody else has this issue(?), then it's probably related to you being a moderator. I'll look into the permissions
