Various video game stuff not deserving its own thread

edit: should be a decent game for streamers for a few hours at least.
edit2: so I played through it once maybe saw 2 funny jokes there, but its really low effort but was to be expected at that price, HR, Marketing, the CEO and one new art design leader you have to hire are clearly trying to sink the product you cant do **** about. Since the emails you give are just yes just differently formulated. Also there is no thought if the stuff you decide is even legal to begin with and no legal consequences I think.
In theory could be a fun experience but like the creator said its super linear. And it has no real gameplay except multiple choice answers.
@BobTBobT wrote: ↑ March 16th, 2026, 02:35What they made more of those? I still have the original on my Saturn. The magic was cool but I remember it being pretty hard.SpellSword wrote: ↑ March 15th, 2026, 18:34► Looks like the wait was worth it, the Magic Carpet 3 trailer looks amazing
Sadly there were only three releases in the series, two mainline entries and an expansion pack.
- Magic Carpet
- Magic Carpet: The Hidden Worlds (Magic Carpet Plus includes this expansion)
- Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds
The console ports for Magic Carpet Plus were pretty solid (PS1 was anyway.) with the sole exception being that for some reason they decided to make the "Destroy your own castle button" be pressing both strafe buttons (L-Shoulder + R-Shoulder) at the same time, which I found very easy to do accidently when quickly switching directions.
The sequel was an upgrade for the most part. More spells and each spell could now be leveled up, new enemies, and additional environments to fly around in like night levels or underground caves. Regrettably it wasn't ported to any of the consoles, but I also remember it crashing often so maybe there was a reason for that.
I haven't seen anyone really replicate the Magic Carpet experience. There was an indie attempt to create something with similar gameplay in the game Arcane Worlds, but development seems to have stalled out years ago and it remains in an unfinished 'Early Access' state.
The gameplay remains quite unique, I wish someone would revive it...
Changes to OpenTTD distribution on Steam
OpenTTD has been available on the Steam Store for the past five years. During that time, we’ve built up an incredible player base, attracting lots of new players to the game. Starting today however, OpenTTD will no longer be directly available as a standalone game on Steam. It can instead be obtained as part of a bundle alongside the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe, which has been re-released by Atari and is now available to purchase via Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase the bundle from our store page.
Note: Due to a technical glitch, OpenTTD was delisted from Steam entirely for a short period. This was not intended by either Atari or the OpenTTD team, and access was restored as quickly as possible. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
What does this mean for you?
If you already own OpenTTD on Steam, nothing changes. You’ll continue to receive game updates as usual. If you ever need to re-download the game, the game will remain in your Steam library.
For any new players interested in owning OpenTTD on Steam, you will need to purchase the Transport Tycoon Deluxe / OpenTTD bundle, allowing access to both the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe and OpenTTD as separate products.
Wait, is the game no longer free?
The game remains free. However, to download OpenTTD on Steam moving forward, you must purchase the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe game alongside it.
What is in the new Transport Tycoon Deluxe on Steam?
It’s a faithful emulation of Chris Sawyer’s original Transport Tycoon Deluxe, now playable on modern machines.
What about other platforms and stores?
The same change has been made on the GOG.com store. All other distribution platforms are unchanged, and you can continue to download OpenTTD from our web site. However if you enjoy playing OpenTTD but you were never able to purchase a copy of the original Transport Tycoon game, you now have the opportunity to do so!
Does this affect the future of OpenTTD?
OpenTTD continues to be developed by a team of independent developers, supported entirely by you, the players. There has been no change to the development team, our workflow, or the open source nature of the project. We will continue to deliver new versions of OpenTTD to all platforms, including Steam and GOG.
Help and support
If you want to ask questions about OpenTTD, make suggestions, or report bugs in the game, nothing has changed - see details here. Transport Tycoon Deluxe and the new Steam and GOG listings are managed and supported by Atari.

Also if you guys have any similar co-op only games that would be nice (excluding obvious recent ones like it takes two or a way out)

RE Revelations 2 also has two-players coop, unfortunately one of the players is going to have fill the ****** role of a character who can't fight.TND wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 07:20Sadly I already played all of thosewndrbr wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 07:05Resident Evil 5, to a lesser extent Resident Evil 6 and Dead Space 3.TND wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 06:50Also if you guys have any similar co-op only games that would be nice (excluding obvious recent ones like it takes two or a way out)![]()

yes, but RE Rev2's assymetric coop formula was likely designed around 'a man + his girlfriend who is not a gamer' or 'a dad + his daughter who is not a gamer'. I doubt a lot of players would find the second role all that interesting.
Titan Quest is good.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 07:22@Kalarion plays a lot of coop games with his family, he might have some recommendations
Maybe the Diablos, they're okay to up to Hell difficulty.
Of course there's all the classics: D&D Shadows Over Mystara, Final Fight, Double Dragon, etc.
A lot of the Tales of games, starting with Vesperia, are coop, they're pretty fun.
Champions of Norrath.
I'll post more later.
I dont know if it's similar but there was a medal of honour game on Xbox 360 with split screen co op (must be on PS3 ig?). It was really good, went through it with someone twice.TND wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 06:50Has anyone ever played the Army of Two games? Yes sir you are correct.
@TND , Brother and I are looking into getting a device/raspberry pi thing or whatever it is that plays thousands of games across a number of systems. Has 4 controller ports that you can plug anything in. We're planning on firing up an AoT playthrough again along with some Fuzion Frenzy when we get it. With it's duo/tandem moves, aggro system, character to character interactions like high fives and fist bumps, the chest pump to keep your buddy alive if he's fading out and the dragging of them to a safe spot while you both are firing is just beauty. General feel it gives off as you play it ( for me ) with someone you care about or love like I did with my brother makes it a certified "Bro Game" for me. Fire it up with your buddy, crank the difficulty up, perfect your loadout and keep each other safe. Also it's mandatory that you have to slap hands or fist bump after missions for proper experience.
Let me know how it goes WHEN you beat it.

on the contrary, devs only need to have one line for the repeated actions, and they should also make the actor read it in a really weird and memorable way so it would drive the players insane after hearing it a hundredth time.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ March 22nd, 2026, 14:34Devs need to prioritize limiting repeated voice lines more. Notice the absence of swastikas?
Halo, Dark Souls 3 and Eldenring with password summon there is even a mod if both install that you can have a summon with you everywhere (at least for Eldenring not sure for DS3). Divinity Original Sin2 and Baldurs Gate 3 can be played in coop.TND wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 07:20Sadly I already played all of thosewndrbr wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 07:05Resident Evil 5, to a lesser extent Resident Evil 6 and Dead Space 3.TND wrote: ↑ March 19th, 2026, 06:50Also if you guys have any similar co-op only games that would be nice (excluding obvious recent ones like it takes two or a way out)![]()
Price of all Helldivers 2 content to date = $457
I found this forum from the Helldivers 2 Supercredit locator mod after sifting through several pages of redditors whining about how cheaters are stealing money from the poor AAA developer studio. The pushback Paradox for DLC gets compared to Arrowhead's microtransaction model is unbelievable. What's worse is you'll have these Reddit *******, who are entirely unaffiliated with Arrowhead and are in no way employed by them, proactively identifying people who don't want to pay half a grand to access the majority of the game's content to report them and their scripts to an AI moderation tool used by Arrowhead.
