Introduces some interesting modding opportunities if you can inject a different LLM or whatever into the pipeline.

I don't need that until someone manages to create a good game that somehow still has ******* in it.

Honestly, some of these examples look better, others look worse. The egregiously bad one is the old lady at 26 seconds, I don't know what the **** they were thinking with that, but they reverted her look BACKWARDS multiple generations worth of post-processing effects. Got her looking like an old lady from Shenmue or something:

Image

The resident evil chick, I have no idea what the **** they were doing there. If you click the link so you can see the side-by-side, the DLSS is literally changing the shape of her ******* jaw to make it more square and mannish, giving her laugh lines around the inner cheeks, and bags and dark circles under her eyes. Yes it makes her look more like some middle-age foid you might encounter out on the street in real life, but if you actually compare to what her real in-game age should be (25-26yrs old), she is looking pretty beat. And yeah, I know a lot of chicks in their mid 20s these days actually do look way older than they should from bad life choices, but we don't need a DLSS filter to normalize that.

there'd still be a ****** under all that AI layering.

Same with the antiwoke mods. Consuming the gay niggerified product while coping and pretending that it's not gay and niggerified.

“Bethesda has such a rich history pushing graphics with NVIDIA, going all the way back to Morrowind, with that incredible water,” said Todd Howard, studio head and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios. “When NVIDIA showed us DLSS 5 and we got it running in Starfield, it was amazing how it brought it to life. We've played it. We can't wait for all of you to do so as well.”

This ***** shipped Starfield without any working DLSS support to begin with and people had to hack it into the game so LOL @ him trying to act like he's at the forefront of technology or something. What he really means is that he can't wait for people to play or care about Starfield at all, irrespective of DLSS 5. The timeline for that to happen is not expressable in years, or even decades. Maybe in number of parallel universes that would have to be generated to find one where people consider Starfield "good."

It just looks like it maxed out that "depth of features" parameter (I forget, is that ambient occlusion?) and changed all the natural lighting to stage spotlights, or just looking like LEDs are lighting the scenes. The Hogwarts screenshot comparison of the stage coach really shows how it goes from "torchlit" to "lit by an LED spotlight"

All I can imagine is that there will be constantly changing visuals if it's truly AI.

Seems like a poor product for fidelity. I'd rather have an actual consistent set of textures and meshes, with realistic per pixel lighting than this slop.

I don't really agree with that at all. Framegen is great if you need to go from like 85fps to a locked 120. It only looks bad if you try to do way too much with it because your base framerate was in the 30s or 40s or something like that. DLAA is easily the best additional anti-aliasing if you are already running 4K. Great balance of image polish without having the huge performance hit of supersampling. The DLSS upscaling modes are ... okay. I don't really use them because nothing needs them right now on a 5090, but it's better to have them than not have them if you can't run the game at the native resolution of your monitor. Like when Cyberpunk came out and even the 3090 couldn't run it that well (best in slot at the time), I thought the DLSS upscaling was a benefit.

It also made them think the slop they were eating was delicious. Good story.

I actually think that looks good and could be cool with stop motion style animation. Only issue is it's too specular, should be diffuse clay-like material.

I doubt that AI there runs locally. So they will probably want people to subscribe to their PC renting for this or a subscription just for that filter. Might work if it was an anime filter on the Starfield npcs... some idiots will buy that then.
It runs locally... on the second 5090.
